Krosigrim Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 ~As it was later revealed, Sega of Japan executives felt that a port of VF3 for the dying Saturn might hurt the superior port already in development for Sega's newest console - the Dreamcast. Instead, they just kept on tweaking the game and refused to release it. VF3 for Saturn was officially cancelled on 17 September 1998 even though Sega of Japan had the completed game ready to send to the pressing plants. In the meantime, however, gamers got tired of Sega putting them on hold yet again and went to PlayStation for Tekken 3 instead."And good riddance, Tekken 3 blew VF3 out of the water. VF didn't get good until 4. I remember my buddy snapping VF into lil fragments after I beat him too many times. He claimed the game made no sense. I just didn't like the gameplay.... at all. But I did like the crisp frame rate. But something bothers me about games on Sega Boards. From Daytona, through that Virtual On, VF's , some tank game, whatever, Games on Sega boards felt weird to me. The frame rate was good, but something was real odd. Can't put my finger on it.

The piss poor 3D graphics, when you know better can be done with the hardware? I enjoy some games on my Saturn, but for the most part.......the games on it BLOW DEAD GOATS. I think the texturing is what was a real letdown in most games for me, totally bland and flat textures EVERYWHERE.

Wizard Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 Yes, but those are rail shooters. VF3 on Saturn could of went either way as the ARC version was alright (Evade button lawl). VF4 revamped the scheme though, for the better. Although at the time, definately Tekken 3 was the better of the two.
fumanchu Posted December 27, 2007 Author Posted December 27, 2007 tekken 3 was better than vf3,graphically and gameplay wise but virtua fighter 3 is still a great game.
Fatal Rose Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 Tekken 3 = half of the cahracters are crap/pallette swaps/ cheezy endings VF3 = came out to late for a home console, way ahead of it's time when it first hit the arcades though. To be honest though I love both games to death. Tekken 3 had me hooked for weeks on end, I still play it on occasion, I honestly believe it is the highest point of the series so far. I hope with Tekken 6 that changes. VF3 is indeed a great game but lacked the awesomeness factor when it came to realistic moves that Vf4 brought to the series. VF3 was missing a slight touch of flashiness I guess. But to me it was and still is a great game. Both are great games, but when it comes to play style I will always prefer Vf, not because of its characters or it's story lines, but because of its game play.
