Controller Family Tree

I found this interesting link of someone who made a family tree of gaming controllers with a summary of what each was. Very information and well made. Check it out and let us know, what's your favorite controller of them all?

 

Mine would simply have to be the Super Nintendo controller. It was simple and well made for fighting games and everything.

I don't think the power glove counts as a controller.

 

Just an accessory. Kind of like the Light guns they don't list for NES/SNES/PSX etc.

I couldn't agree more. I can't even play using the original PSX controleer because it doesn't have the analog sticks... it's too thin.

it was close between dual shock 2 and snes but the dual shock 2 wins out.

I would have to say the GC controller. its so simple and weird. I just love it.

 

Also why is the xbox 360 controller so similar to the original xbox ?

I couldn't agree more. I can't even play using the original PSX controleer because it doesn't have the analog sticks... it's too thin.

what was the longest a first gen dual shock would last for you? For me it was usually around 6 months then something would break

 

I memmer a time when I had 3 laying around rolled up cause they were broken

 

I think the problem was that the d-pads and other buttons had plastic frames around them

I like the XBox S the best. The Dual Shock is nice, but I don't think the arrangement they use for the dual analog sticks is as comfortable to use as the arrangement the XBox and GC controllers use. But I still prefer the Dual Shock over the GC controller for lots of reasons.

For me, it's gotta be the either the SNES Controller or Dual Shock II.

 

I imagaine the new PS3 Controller follows that legacy as well.

the new PS3 controller wont be that big of a change for me because i have the wingman for the pc that is almost boomerang shaped and i play fine with it.
