Another good interview: http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=60917

Eurogamer: A lot of Nintendo's previous controller concepts have been adopted by your competitors. Are you worried they're going to nick this idea too?

Jim Merrick: Of course! As someone pointed out to me today, here we are, about to throw away 20 years of controller designs - designs which Nintendo came up with! There will be an influence on the industry, absolutely. That said, Nintendo will aggressively protect its intellectual property.

I was actually going to use the fishing controllers as an example, Thats what i mean, Its going to be cool for awhile, and its going to work well for alot of games, But you have to admit, 99% of games are going to need a normal style controller.

Dude, to me it seems as if Nintendo is the only one that is trying to keep games alive, Xbox and PS3 are depending on sequeals which, all exept MGS4 im tired off (maybe thats because I didnt play MGS3...)

While that may be true, and I respect them for it, Its not going to work here in teh states, people here are too stubborn.

Importing games from Japan is the number 1 way to go i think, they are alot more open minded over there.

And 2004/2005 have been dubbed years of teh sequels, I dunno whats up with that, but it does seem to be slowing down, im getting annoyed with it too.

Except for teh Katamari Demacy Sequel, That is perfectly okay :banghead:

Yes Katamari is teh coolist. But really, fable being the only original game in the top 50 in 2k4 was kind of sad and disapointing :banghead:'

Honestly, if it wasnt for that shell thing they where talking about, The system just would NOT work for most modern games.

Heres a mock up of what it might look like

I think the entire RPG Genre has been taking a hit lately, someone needs to revolutionize it. (Uh oh, that might have been a corny pun)

I want a new Skies Of Arcadia game, omg that game was so underrated, its genious....

The new graphics on all this systems will be revolutinary enough for me. Since RPG's mostly have all the same concept different bts

didnt gryph show us a link with pictures of that? btw its unofficial so that might not be it at all :s

Yeah he posted a link to it already. And it's just a concept by IGN. I forsee many attachments.

i always thought it would be cool to have some kind of pinball machine controller, but a pinball game would get pretty boring after awhile lol, the real thing is much better.

Another thing i thought of, is if you have to be swinging the controllers around to play this, arent there going to be alot of accidental injuries during multiplayer?

I think Nintendo's gone flocking insane. There's innovation for the sake of gaming, and then there's innovation for the sake of innovation. Yeah, it's innovative, but it looks and sounds like complete and total crap.

And about the motion detection, I don't find the idea of waving your controller around like a god damned retard sounds fun in the slightest.

I really can't see how this can be fun. I really don't. I mean, I didn't like the DS' touch screen, and I still don't, but even then some games can be fun using it. Having to use this controller really looks like it'd kill the fun for me.

I was actually looking forward to the Revolution, since the 360 and the PS3 also look like crap. flock you, Nintendo.

Dooz a little to insulting there for the guys that are trying to save video games :P, and not worrying as much about money as the other 2 companies making new systems -_-'...

Sega and nintendo should come together to make a system thats like Dreamcast, original :P

Save videogames? They're doing just as much to destroy gaming, just in a different way. They're being too innovative. It's like saying at some meeting, "Well, we're looking for a new way to play games... Let's play games by having to smash your head against walls in different ways!" "YEAH!" Yeah, it's new, but it's flocking retarded.

Don't outright bash it until you try it, it may wind up being absolutely awesome. Could you imagine having had the Gamecube controller as the controller on the NES? I bet you would have felt the same in that case.......

I think it's absolutely screwy too, but I'm not going to call it for being good or bad until I've tried it. Nintendo has a way with ergonomics, having two hands seperately controlling things is more natural, this may work out very well.
