Best messenger?

Ok I've downloaded the trillian as axl suggested.

 

I'll install it in a while. Now you must remember I know absolutely totally zero about this stuff.

 

So my n00000000b question is, how do I register myself on MSN, AIM etc ??

u have to go visit the AIM's site and if u have an msn account u should be able to use that ( i think)

Aim has pop ups? I've been using it forever, and while they did run one ad with popups (a browser window would appear if you mouse-overed the ad bar), it was only around for a while and hasn't shown up in the rotation for a long time.

 

Anyway, I use AIM because it's what everyone I know uses. There's no point in switching to a multi-network program if I'm only on one, and it doesn't 'cause problems. Granted, I hate AOL and would love to dock them the few cents a day they get from running ad banners on me, but it's not worth it to me to fix up another messenger.

Trillian should give you an option to register each account during the first startup.

I use teh Trillian. I used to get them a lot a long time ago so I stopped connecting to Yahoo! Now I connect since I get those bots maybe once or twice every month.

I think you get the bots on Yahoo, because of all those chatrooms.

That was the only time I got them, and that was because of peerpresure. >_<

Anyways,I dont use Yahoo anymore, I like Msn messenger, since it has a better look, is faster at sending files, and it also is the messenger that has better smilies.

I mean wtf is up with Aol's smilies?

Hey it's AOL, that is reason enough.

 

I've never been in any Yahoo! chatrooms.

MSN for me. I use my webcam fairly regularly and Yahoo's webcam pops up in a seperate window. Aim's webcam is just crappy from what I remember like a year ago, might be different now though I dunno.

 

Anyway, MSN has the best setup IMO, it's clean and simple, but with various features that aren't too much of a confusion while sometimes useful. Version 7 just came out also.

 

Plus, u get to use yur own custom emoticons if yur into that.

I've installed Trillian. It asked for my msn account name, so I entered my.net email and password.

 

Now its just sitting there, apparently ready to go?

 

What do I do now?
