Robert Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 (edited) What's a good graphics card these days? How much ram is needed? It must fit into AGP slot. I'm in Australia, so your el-cheapo computer store won't exist here. Must have drivers suitable for win95 Edited February 26, 2005 by robbbert
kaioshade Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 Geforce 6600gt is alsoa good midrange card.
Robert Posted February 26, 2005 Author Posted February 26, 2005 (edited) what brand is that 9800 ? and what cost? Edited February 26, 2005 by robbbert
Agozer Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 what brand is that 9800 ? and what cost?Mine is a Club3D. Dunno about the price though.
Wizard Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 Mines an actual ATi Card, not a 3rd Party. Their cheap now though.
Weirdy Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 btw ppl, he said that it has to be compatible with windows 95
Mag Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 I think ati 9700 is better, not only its affordable, but it's a very good card. It almost match up to 9800, but if you can find a good deal with 9800, then get that I guess.
Wizard Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 9700s went out of production now I think. 9800 Pro is on it's last few runs before ATi removes it from production also.
Gryph Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 Many manufacturers stopped Win 95 support a while back. If you look on their websites for drivers the oldest Windows is 98...you'll have to check if the Forceware (Nvidia) and Catalyst (ATI) still have 95 support.
taratata Posted February 27, 2005 Posted February 27, 2005 You said you need it to be compatible with win95. I remember you said elsewhere you had an old computer, I guess that's why it has to be compatible. (wasn't it around 300 MHz?) For the price of a 9800, you could get a motherboard with integrated graphics, some ram and a cheap processor. Well, that's where I would start. A 9800 with a 300 MHz processor would be really overkill. If you want to keep your comp or don't have enough money for what's above, you could go for a 9200 (around $50). But I don't know if they still produce drivers for Win95...
