there have been two revisions of all 3 drives, alternating between crappy and excellent.

is that a real crystal case or one of those 20 dollar after market ones? all those mold circles looks pretty crappy

Real Crystal. notice the microsoft logo on the top of the case (backwards, as it was engraved from the inside) and those "crappy circles" are present on all xboxes, just since its clear you can see them.

you'd figure they woulda reworked the mold so the circles were less noticable. anyways I like the special edition white xbox better. clear electronics always remind me of the early 90's when everyone had a swatch watch. lol

sorry to hear that. i too used to have a thomson dvd-rom but i've since got a phillips dvd-rom and works lovely

what kind of dvd media do you run in your phillips? my sister's won't read any of my media.

i normally use Ritek G04's or Verbatims but as of right now i'm using Fuji Film dvdr's which seem to work fine on it and my ps2.

 

also all of thoses are -R; i have yet to test +R since i still got 100 fuji's to go thru heh

i heard changes the bookmark type for dvd works for phllips

im most likly getting a phillips and my dvd drive had to break right when my xdk got up and running

then just have him order a xecuter and solder it in there. go to xbox-scene for tuts on whatever mod chip he ends up getting.
