  1. um...ok...This is confusing. You should really try and explain better. From what I can tell you are trying to burn PSX game in a cue/bin format, Alcohol crashed on you and you don't like CDRwin and your not sure what format to burn the disc in with Nero. Am I right so far? Well I should be able to help you as I have burned several PSX games successfully. The only issues I've ever had are skipping FMVs but I think it has something to do with my burner. What I need to know right now it: What burner are you using? I can see it says Plexor but I need more info in case I need to research. What version of Alcohol 120% are you using and at what point did it "blue screen"? As far as Nero DO NOT burn the files as data. You will have to choose Recorder->Burn Image from the top menu (after exiting the wizard) and yes it does support CUE image files. If your problem is that they won't run on your playstation it's because no copied game will run on an unmoded PSX. I really want to help you out here but there is just not enough information to give you a definant answer to your poblem at this time.
  2. I wish someone would post some comments so that I wouldn't have to double- (in this case triple-) post to add these major updates. Anyway, as many of you have learned a new Pokemon game has just recently been release and the rom is hard to find but it is out there (I still can't get a copy of it to use for this topic). Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team for the Nintendo DS and Red Rescue Team for the GBA lets you be the Pokemon. Since the details of these new games have nothing to do with this topic they will not be provided, however there is another issue that I have seen involving Red Rescue Team that does require me to update this topic specifically for this game. This game is not only unique as a Pokemon game but also as a GBA game as it has a flash memory size of 1MB. Now this is only based of information from another site that I have seen but that's what I'm going with for now until I find other information or until someone tells me otherwise. The real issue however is that there is already an IPS save patch for it. It sounds to me like it is having the same issues as all of the other Pokemon games mentioned in this topic. Now until I am able to get my hand on a copy of the (unpatched) rom, there really isn't much more I can say about this however, I will post a partial vba-over.ini file entry below. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team (U) [b24E] rtcEnabled=? flashSize=? If anyone knows what the ?s are suppose to be for this to work please post it here or e-mail me. I have no information about whether the game uses the Real-Time Clock so that is why this line is included. [uPDATE] Good news! The game is capable of working perfectly using the same settings as all of the other Pokemon games. Here is the complete vba-over.ini entry: Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team (U) [b24E] flashSize=131072 Enjoy the game. I already am and it really is quite original and fun. A special thanks to all of you who have viewed this topic (3500+ views ) and to megaman_zer0 for providing me with a solution for the DBZ games. It really means a lot to me to see that someone is seeing this as it was really hard to gather and enter all of the information here in the first place (not that I'm complaining, this was my first topic on 1emulation). Please post your comments. It will encourage me to continue to update this topic as much as I can for future emu-lovers to see and to help those of you who simply can't figure out why your having problems in the first place. Do not take advantage of me allowing these comments. As usual follow the board rules. The minor (unofficial) exception is staying on topic (at least it won't be as strictly inforced by me except for me). Your comments can be whatever you want them to be as long as they follow the rules and are about this topic and are not negitive in nature. I will do my best to answer any questions anyone may have so feel free to ask and yes I will answer questions by e-mail if you don't feel comfortable to post them here. Ok, I think that's everything... Until next post then. [uPDATE] After doing some digging into the actual specs of the Pokemon roms themselves I have discovered that all of then behave the same way as this new Red Rescue Team rom does as far as saving. I will be able to provide a more in depth and detailed information into everything that I have posted here once I am able to get a web site running.
  3. Many of you may have already discovered that you can't play and of the new Pokemon games on VBA without some kind of IPS patch for each game. Well this is not true. In fact, even though these patches allow to play and save the game they do so by reducing the amout of flash memory the game uses which caused more problems then solves. I have gotten e-mails and read posts on other forums where other people's saves suddenly dissappeared after they beat the Elite Four and allowed the game to reset itself. Now there is already a new IPS save patch for the new game Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team. This game uses a wopping 1MB of flash memory for it's save (a very rare thing among GBA games). Why the IPS patches were created: Well I don't know for a fact why but it seems to be because VBA could no recognize the correct flash memory size for the new Pokemon games, a problem that still exists as of 1.7 which was the first version that could run the new Pokemon games in the first place. The games would display a message after the "Press Start" screen that mentioned a missing 1-M sub-curcuit and would then preceed to run the game after you pressed A. The real problem would then occur when you tried to save your game. A save error would then be displayed. The only solution for this would have normally been to simply use "Save States" but what about when the game resets itself after the Elite Four (Fire Red and Leaf Green)? This problem is still evident with the IPS patch however, as the save seems to just dissappear and the game will start from the begining again (based on emails and other forum posts as mentioned above). The IPS Solution: Force the game to save using the default VBA flash size of only 64KB. All of the Pokemon games were made to use 128KB of memory for the save file. This is why you get the message "Save is corrupted" after the "Press Start" screen when you use the patch. The game will still load the save but as I know I have already mentioned the patch creates a problem after you beat the Elite Four (Fire Red and Leaf Green). There might be more problems but this one seem to stand out more. I don't know about Emerald but I'm guessing that it will cause a similar problem as well. Ruby and Sapphire seem to have similar problems but I haven't really done to much with these games as I have already fixed them with the solution below. The Solution to IPS patches: The solution is simple. Create a vba-over.ini file and enter the correct flash memory size for each Pokemon game. Using this file with the VBA emulator will override it's setting for each game entered in the vba-over.ini file. I joined 1emulation to be able to post the detaileds for thie solution when I discovered it and I hope that everyone has found it useful (I just wish that someone would post the comments so I know if it is really helping people). Click here to view this topic if you need help creating the vba-over.ini file or if you think you have any additional info about it that is not already included in that topic (such as what settings to use for the new Mystery Dungeon game). I will soon update that topic to include the new Mystery Dungeon game once I have obtained a rom to experiment with myself. Hopefully this gets through to someone. People have to know these IPS patches are no good. [uPDATE] After some hypothosising, based on what I have disovered today once I was able to work with Red Rescue Team and from my experience with the other Pokemon games, I think I might have a true solution for why these games are so unique. If you have ever tried to play Pokemon Fire Red or Leaf Green in VBA, using default settings and no patch, you might have notice the little message that says something about the 1-M sub-curcuit is missing. It would be save to assume that it is talking about the save chip on the GBA card. I read recently on a site that the new Mystery Dungeon Red Rescue Team game has 1MB of flash memory for the save file however, the game works fine using the 128KB flash size setting in VBA. Based on this I believe that each of these games actually has a 1MB "sub-curcuit" flash chip that it uses for save data but only saves 128KB of data to this chip for the game. VBA still cannot properly detect this for some reason so it tries to use whatever flash memory size is selected in Save Type settings menu. The default of course being 64KB. Most people, rather then try and experement with VBA's setting to find something that worked (like I finally did), chose to simply create a patch that forces the game to ignore the amount of flash memory and save anyway. I have not tried to use the patch for Red Rescue Team (and I don't think I ever will) but I can already see how people might think that it is working as there is no error message when you start the game without the patch using the 64KB flash setting. The only way you can tell that something is wrong is when you (finally) get to save. The game will then display a "Save Failed" massage and will then simply continue as normal. Now all of this is just my theory (based on some facts) so don't go critisising me for this if I'm wrong. Well, it's getting to the point where I might have to start making a web page just to fit all of the information that I have. For the moment though, I'll just try and fit all of the information I can into my (currently) two topics in this thread. I enjoy reading other people's opinions and help them out if they need it. [ANOTHER UPDATE] Ok, so it seems I misread the specs page for the Pokemon games. The flash chip is 1Mb not 1MB (which I'm guessing converts into 128KB). This is what threw me off to begin with. Next time I'll be sure to double check what I'm reading before I go posting false information again. [iMPORTANT INFORMATION] If you have been using the IPS patch and would like to still be able to use your save after removing the patch click on the link below. http://www.1emulation.com/forums/index.php...;p=206400
  4. They did some tests at gameboy-advance.net for this. You might find your answer there.
  5. From what I know the slim PS2 uses a door instead of a try. If you can find out where the trigger is that tells the PS2 that the door is closed and jam it in the close position (usually by forcing it to stay pressed down) then you can perform a swap trick using a PSX version of either the Codebreaker or Gameshark cheating disks. I have had success in player copied PSX games in a full PS2 using a similar method that prevented the PS2 from realizing that the CD tray had been ejected. As far as playing copied PS2 games you will have to use some other disc although I'm not sure if I'm allowed to tell what it's called.
  6. Well then the only way that I can think of to help you is if I could get copies of the exact images that you have. I guessing you downloaded the images you have but it is against the rules to post links to ISOs, roms, ect. However I don't think it is against the rules for you to e-mail me the links. I do have a bittorrent client if they are torrents however I am also using dial-up internet so it will take some time before I can get the images even if you send me the links. You can get my email by looking at my profile card.
  7. You can play original games with it but there is no surround sound support and it still can't play FMV sequences very well. That and it is very, very slow (about 5-20 fps). So basiclly you are better off getting a new PS2 for now or you can just get your current one fixed.
  8. The PS2 has problems with all -R discs. It would be best if you use DVD+R discs and if possible try to book type them as DVD-ROM so that they are even more compatible. Most Sony DVD-RW drives will automaticlly change the book type on all +R/+RW discs when it burns them. There are also several other drives that you can force the book type using DVD Decrypter. I burn DVD Video discs on both R/RW discs and they work fine when they have been book typed as DVD-ROM so this might help fix the skipping problems you are experiencing with your games.
  9. Sound to me like there is another registry entry set that is causing this. Export the registry folder it says to go to on the Symantec site and send me the file. I should be able to tell what is running that shouldn't.
  10. Ok I've been getting several e-mails from people who have lost thier saves after beating the Elite Four on the Pokemon games. First of all, if you are using a ips patch for the games delete them. All these patches do is allow the Pokemon games to run useing only 64KB of flash memory (they are suppose to use 128KB). This "hack" causes more problems then fixing them as this is often the cause of lost save after the Elite Four since the game will actually use all 128KB of save space for that save before it restarts. Now if you are not using an ips patch then you are in luck (sort of). Some of you may notice the ''The 1M sub-circuit board is not installed'' message after the "Press Start" screen. Well based on my last e-mail this message also shows up after beating the Elite Four. DO NOT use save states to solve this problem because they will be useless after the game restarts. To fix this problem all you will have to do is follow the steps for using the vba-over.ini file in the first post. The down side is that you will have to delete you old save (or at least back it up for now) in order for the fix to work. Sorry but there is no other way that I have yet found that will allow you to play the game properly without problems using your existing save. I know you worked hard to get where you are and I really am sorry but in order for the game to save properly the fix must be appied to a fresh save file. Hopefully this answers any questions for you Pokemon fans out there. Now I have not been able to play any of the games all the way through on the emulator yet so hopefully everything will work.
  11. Hm... Wow this definitely a problem that I have never ran into before. The only way I can think of being able to fix this is if I hade a copy of the exact same image file(s) that you have so I can really be able to see what the problem is. Although... Check in the root directory of the discs and see if there is an IP.BIN file. If not then this might be the reason why you games won't play. There are games that use a different file other then IP.BIN to boot but it's not very common.
  12. Thanks I'll try that as soon as I can. I didn't know 1.6 was really all that buggy.
  13. No matter what video plugin I use the game keeps crashing on the Motion BG FMV that plays when you board the Airship leaving Dali. I have scaned the image that I have with CDMage and there are no bad sectors on it. The crash only happens just as it is about to show the in-game character models hanging on to the ladder on the back of the airship as it passes by the screen. At this point all it will show is a block of color and static. I am currently using Pete's OpenGL2 plugin with the following settings: Plugin: Pete's OpenGL2 Driver 2.7 Author: Pete Bernert Card vendor: ATI Technologies Inc. GFX card: MOBILITY RADEON 9700 x86/SSE2 Resolution/Color: - 800x600 Window mode - Internal X resolution: 1 - Internal Y resolution: 1 - Keep psx aspect ratio: off - No render-to-texture: off - Filtering: 3 - Hi-Res textures: 2 - TexWin pixel shader: off - VRam size: 0 MBytes Framerate: - FPS limitation: on - Frame skipping: off - FPS limit: Auto Compatibility: - Offscreen drawing: 1 - Framebuffer effects: 3 - Framebuffer uploads: 2 Misc: - Scanlines: off - Mdec filter: off - Screen filtering: off - Shader effects: 0/1 - Flicker-fix border size: 0 - GF4/XP crash fix: off - Game fixes: off [00000000] I have also tried using Pete's DX6 D3D plugin but all it does is freez in the same spot the other one crashes at. Also P.E.Op.S Soft plugin does the same thing Pete's OpenGL2 plugin does. Can anyone please help I am all out of options as I can't get any othe PSX emulator working on my computer right now.
  14. Basicly yes it is possible to run you "backup" ISO or burned PSX games on epsxe. I have to do this with just about all of my playstation games because my brothers have not kept very good care of them and they keep skipping a lot during the FMVs (even in the emulator). There are some games that have special anti-mod protection on them that will have to be patched before they will play though. Information about some of these games is in epsxe's help file.
  15. Oh ok I thought you said it that they all failed. Unfortunatly I haven't played Megaman on the GBA so I can't help you there (yet). P.S. I fell for the FTP link in your sig and I want my HP back.
  16. Samurai Edge: You can't link between Fire Red/Leaf Green and Ruby/Sapphire unless you unlock that feature in the Fire Red/Leaf Green games. Also Ruby/Sapphire do not support the Wireless Adapter function. XPWaRRioR: Yes VBA Link does work perfectly for most GBA games as long you set it properly. The default link settings will work for most games though. I haven't used v1.8 yet but I'm getting it now. Since it is still in beta stage I'll try it out and if I find any problems with it that aren't just the same problems that the real VBA have I'll let you know. Ok, I've worked with it for a little bit and there are so far two issues that I ran into: 1. The link feature uses a lot of processor power and can cause the emulator to slow down. When I ran it both vba link windows were running at about 50% and my processor usage stayed at around 99%. 2. There appears to be a major bug in the Wireless Adapter feature. When I tried to communicate with someone in the Union Room on Pokemon Emerald the emulator crashed and the connection was lost. Other then that it works alright. I highly recommend this software if you want to be able to link on your computer (even with it's major bugs). How to link: 1. Copy all the files from the downloaded zip file to a folder on you computer. 2. Open the VisualBoyAdvance.exe file. Now open it again leaving the first window alone. 3. Set each emu windows controls. 4. Open a GBA game in each emu window. Note: the games have to be able to link to each other in the first place for the link to work with the emulator. 5. Start a link game on both windows and enjoy. If you still have questions let me know. I've been using VBA and VBA Link for several years now and have learned quite a bit about each. Also if you plan on playing any Dragon Ball Z or Pokemon games check this out first: http://www.1emulation.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=17613
  17. As far as my experience with .cdi format just about everyone I've ever downloaded was corrupted. The only way to find out if they do work before you burn is to mount the images and make sure that it actually shows the files. If you get an error message saying the disc is corrupted then you have a bad image and no matter what you do it won't work (even if you burn it). Now I'm guessing that these are Dreamcast images that you have. If the problem you are having is that the discs simply won't play on the Dreamcast then perhaps the image was not made to self-boot. If that is the case then you would have to download software to make a self-boot disc. There are also boot disc images for the Dreamcast that allow you to swap discs with a non-selfboot disc and play it. This of course would be a lot easier since the images for these kind of discs are only about 1MB. I think the name of it is Utopia or something like that. I have images for it and it did seem to work in Chancast when I tried it. If you want it I can send it to you. BTW the .nrg format is Nero.
  18. What format are you ISOs in? Are they actral .iso or some other format?
  19. What are your PC specs? I've played SA2 on my computer using Chankast Alpha 0.25 and the only time it crashed was well....a lot farther into the game then that. It could be the image you downloaded but the only way to find that out is to play it on an actual Dreamcast System and see if it still crashes in the same spot as the emulator. I'm also having some graphics problems like Agozer mentioned.
  20. I have been successful at playing copied PSX games on my PS2 using the PS2 swap trick method. Just use a PSOne Gameshark or Codebreaker for the swap trick instead of the Swap Magic disc. Also most PSX games that have anti-mod protection will work on the PS2 using this swap trick. I know because I've Spyro - Year of the Dragon with this trick and the only side effect was a slow initial load time. Other then that it worked fine.
  21. So far I've found that the FMVs are all of the files in the "SMV" and "MIS" folders on the disc. The only program that comes close to playing anything off of them is PowerDVD (it plays the video at normal speed showing that the video is MPEG-1). Now it seems that the FMVs are in some sort of MPEG-2 format (as far as video) but no other program seems to recognize the stream data off the files. With normal PSS format FMVs the video is a standard MPEG-2 steam and the audio is in some other PS2 PCM format (from what I've learned). The only thing I can see is that the video header is different then a standard PSS file's causing normal PSS ripping programs to reject them. If someone could figure out what the difference in the AC04 SMVs and standard PSS files then maybe this might solve the answer as to why no one has been able to rip the FMVs for the Kingdom Hearts games (not counting the fact that KH also hides it's data like most other Square games). If you think you can add to this information please feel free to reply. What I've typed here is things that I've come across that I hope can help the people that know how to make these kinds of rippers and stuff just in case I found out something they haven't. I know this is a bit long-winded but I wanted to put in everything I've found so far. Programmers, hope this helps.
  22. FRAPS can record sound from the Wave Out on your sound card's recording settings. If you sound card doesn't have a Wave Out (like mine) then you will have to get a pass through cable to connect your Line Out to your Line In and record sound that way.
  23. Are you saying that your console has a mod chip installed? If so this might be your problem.
  24. Well the only reason I say it's the easiest is because it's nothing more then I disc to disc swap without any extra peripherals that you have to connect like in your guide with the special Gameshark. Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to dis your guide Shibathedog but I've never even heard of that kind of Gameshark. All my Gameshark came with was a disc and a guide book nothing else. I've even been able to use this trick to play copied PSX games on the PS2. Pretty much what I'm trying to say is at least try it before you judge it. It really is very easy (as long as you know what your doing).
  25. http://www.1emulation.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=17613 Check out this post maybe it will help.
