Hmm...as I suspected, PERL was the culprit because that's the only part of the set up where I was confused. I followed the instructions in the mingw.txt but it didn't say anything about putting the perl.exe in the mingw\bin folder. I don't think I even isntalled it properly. All I did was execute the install.bat file and it created nsperl.exe then I added q:\nsperl to the mingw.cmd.

We're working on a new definition of Spam so hopefully it will fix that situation. I, too, feel that Spam is undercutting Current Affairs.

Ok, I just got that and set everything up. I got the dx7, libpng, and zlib from the FBA site. When I tried to compile it got farther this time but get some new errors. I followed the instructions but I'm definitely doing something wrong. I think I didn't install Perl properly, I don't know. The reason I think the other emulator sections aren't very busy is because most people don't need help with it. They're pretty damn simple to use, download the emulator, download the roms, set the paths, play. Just watch, when the new Chankast is released, or any other next gen emulators that plays a whole host of games at decent speeds, a lot of people are going to come and you'll be tired of seeing the same question being asked over and over again.

I hate the McDonald's commercials even more. They make it even worse by airing one after another, on more than one channel at the same time so you can't escape their huge advertising campaign.

Alright, I asked over at the FBA forum and Jan Klaassen told me that I have to use an old version of GCC which means I need to get an old version of MingW. I was using the absolute latest version.

Yeah, I wanted to start out with an older version that doesn't have problems when compiling. I'm waiting for all the bugs to be sorted out too. I might try MAME now.

IT'S NOT EVEN OUT YET!

Those DAT files aren't for use with ClrMAME of Rom Center. They are for Nebula and Kawaks DAT files. Nebula has NEOGEO.DAT and Kawaks has ASR.DAT. But you need to use a loader to add new games because they are locked by the emulator authors. Right now there isn't a loader for Kawaks 1.53 but there is one for 1.49 but it's hard to find. I use Kawaks 1.46 loader.

Why can't the PS3 be more powerful than XBOX2? But the thing I'm wondering about is if developers will be able to take advantage of the PS3's power. Now the big game publishers are all into cross platform releases so will development teams realistically have the time and resources to improve a game's graphics to take advantage of the more power system? Right now ports to more powerful platforms (Halo XBOX to Halo PC,; GTA3,VC, SA PS2 to XBOX and PC; etc.) aren't much more than higher resolution textures and a few graphical advancements. Of course, gameplay is the most important aspect of games but you can't discount the power that better graphics have on the majority of gamers.

It has changed but it's not all bad. I think they just have better things to do. Hell, even you don't come here that often.
