thedonjuan Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 I use to own both and know I just own dreamcast.I'm gonna have to say DC all the way.I'm also a big fighting fan so all the legendary series graced the Dc flawlessly and the one that ported to both looked better on the DC.
Agozer Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 (edited) Didn't we have a sort of poll like this in "Favorite console ever" or something like that? Anyway, Playstation for me. Edited October 13, 2004 by Agozer
L.S.D Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 Nah, let it be. Help to keep the board lively. DC all the way. Although they really lack support from game developers. The only big company really supporting DC is Capcom.I dun see the rest though.
valovedder Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 I think that the Dreamcast was a better and more capable console that never got the backing that it deserved. But then it was a generastion ahead. However the impact of the Playstation cannot be underestimated, and for me it wins. It has a greater variety of games and some truely awesome stuff, FFVII etc, Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil, Gran Turismo, all awesome with nothing on the dreamcast to match!!

THe only thing DC lose out is due to the publicity and exposure.Sony has a well-oiled publicity machine, giving them the edge. And they have the moolah to sponsor magazines, newsbits, bla bla blaand even help game developers to promote their PS games. How do you beat that?
Corn99 Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 dreamcast, cause it has the better graphics and plenty of original(maybe short) games.
L.S.D Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 Oh yeah, and how could I forget Space Channel 5 and JSR?!?double99 reminds me that I still regret selling my DC
valovedder Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 Like i said the two machines are different gnerations. The Dreamcast was supposed to compete with PS2. We all know what happened there. Don't get me wrong i loved my Dreamcast and it had amazing games. But i still feel that if i had to choose one it would be the Playstation.
Gryph Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 Dreamcast because I actually own one. But this isn't a really fair comparison since the PS1 was out way longer than the DC. But since I like 2D fighting games and 3D Sonic, Dreamcast for me. There were cool games on the PS1 like the old KOFs, stuff like Spyro, etc. And I hate Final Fantasy which was one of the biggest selling points of the PS so it doesn't sit well with me.
Agozer Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 Well, I got my first console when I bought the PS1 roughly the same time when Final Fantasy VIII came out. My mom never bought any consoles for me.
Bluestinger X Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 ... its kinda weird comparing the dc to the ps1 the dc beats the ps1 in all aspecs except how many games.... I hated ps1 truly so much... the graphics made my eyes hurt.. well the 3d ones anyways. The dc had so many great things like the vmu, online play, graphics, control and so on. Comparing them is like comparing the snes to the ps1. ( although i still think the snes was better haha )
Swithin Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 (edited) DC vs PS1 or PS2? Either way, I'm going to go with the Dreamcast. There are incredible games on PS1 and PS2, but if you asked me to name 5 console games I'd want on a deserted island, 4 would be on DC > Soul Calibur 1 (I hate SC2, so this is already a strike against PS2), MotW, LB2, Project Justice. PS2 wins a point for GGXX#R, it's hard to go back to GGX by now. Of course, DC has many other fan favorites, including but not limited to SF3 1-3, MVC2 (this has been released on PS2 by now, hasn't it?), DOA2 (good enough, even with newer versions out), KoFs 98(that dream-match named 99something)-2k2 (points to PS2 for 2k3 and SSV, not to mention the upcoming LB1-2 pack, although the jury's out on the quality of the port), SFA3, it even has Vampire Chronicle, etc. I guess I'm being a fan-boy. I'm not putting the playstations down, many of my favorite games are on PS2, and they own the DC for free on RPGs and many other genres... but I truly feel love for the DC, as do a lot of people. It's a kickass little system with capabilities ahead of the competition's time, it even comes in a loveable little box with cute little controllers (and the Agetec stick ain't that bad.) Soul Calibur 1 clinches it for me, but still, for fighters in general, DC all the way. Kinda hard not to want both systems though... [edit: oh, btw, Bluestinger X, what anime is the clip in your avatar from?] Edited October 13, 2004 by Swithin
Agozer Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 Sadly, I'm one of those people that have never even touched a Dreamcast controller (except once at a fair). I've never even seen Dcs being sold in stores here.

KyokugenKiss Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 i love dc, but i have to say psx the games were more memorable and i prefer the controller, i hate the DC controller
