I did that a year ago and made a nice bit of money when I bought shares of AMD at around $8 and sold it when it hit $18.

I did that a year ago and made a nice bit of money when I bought shares of AMD at around $8 and sold it when it hit $18. You need money to invest money. Investing in stocks usually involves a couple of grand unless you're buying contra (really huge risk though).
