Gee Posted March 18, 2004 Posted March 18, 2004 Hey peeps, I was wondering if anyone could help me. I downloaded a copy of Sf3 Third Strike off suprnova, burnt it then tried to play.Whenever it loads up it goes through the standard Dc screens then goes black.I can hear all the sounds (and if sounds great) but there is just no picture. Ive searched your forum before this request just to make sure i wasnt asking for help that had been given before.Ive also searched through google for info but still no luck Has anyone heard of this before? Thanks in advance g Also im using a PAL Dc which plays my import Ikaruga and Border Down like a dream with no boot disc, and also using an RGB scart cable if this helps - cheers.
DanManXZ Posted March 18, 2004 Posted March 18, 2004 I have gotten that one and it works fine for me. The music dosent slip or nuthin like the Marvel vs. Capcom 2 at Suprnova. How did you burn it?
Cominus Posted March 19, 2004 Posted March 19, 2004 It could be becuase you're using a pal DC. The Pal dcs are weaker than the american one. Try burning it again.
StriderSkorpion Posted March 19, 2004 Posted March 19, 2004 I have had this happen before with the Bleemcast beta. For me, I couldn't tell what the problem was. My guess is that it was the CD-R media. If you've burned games using that type of CD-R before, then my only guess is the image is corrupt. To check if it's corrupt, grab CDMage (the beta version) from http://cdmage.cjb.net. If the image is in Discjuggler 4 format, it won't be able to read it. One last thing, if the image is Nero (.nrg), make sure you're burning it correctly (i.e. if it's DAO burn it as that and the same with TAO).
Sane Posted March 19, 2004 Posted March 19, 2004 No, if the game boots up and you only hear sound then it's burned fine. It also has nothing to do with the fact that it's a PAL DC, because if it was a problem with a weak laser then it wouldn't boot at all. It's a problem with the RGB signal. In fact, all you need to do is download this RGB fix patch and apply it with PPF-O-Matic and you'll have a fully working game.
Gee Posted March 19, 2004 Author Posted March 19, 2004 Thank you very much people! Ill try that rgb patch tonight when i get home from work. If i have any trouble ill let you know Once again - thanks! g
StriderSkorpion Posted March 19, 2004 Posted March 19, 2004 I've burned corrupted images and sometimes they "boot" like that. Of course, they'll usually boot to the bios if there's a problem. I've had few burned games that acted pretty weird, such as reseting the sytem over and over (that was the bleemcast beta). The only game I can remember pretending to boot like for Gee was a corrupt Xploder image, though.
Wizard Posted March 19, 2004 Posted March 19, 2004 A PAL fix should be applied before burning then if your using a PAL DC.
Shibathedog Posted March 20, 2004 Posted March 20, 2004 yeah, its in US format and your playing it on PAL, thats definatly it There should be a DJ4 to Nero convertor I have a game in DJ4 format (its the Dino Crises from SuperNova) and it is SO HARD to get that fricker to boot, i got it to work ONCE, and that was it
BobRedthorp Posted March 20, 2004 Posted March 20, 2004 I've got Dino Crisis, I've had no problems getting it to boot???
Sane Posted March 20, 2004 Posted March 20, 2004 There's no need to fix anything if you want to play US or JAP backups on a pal DC, the only thing you can do is patch it to run in 60hz as not all games will do that by default, but all US and JAP games will work normally on PAL Dc's. A few exceptions are there of course, like SFIII which needs an RGB fix. However if you would use an RF or normal AV cable with it it would also work fine, RGB fix is only needed if you use scart.
Shibathedog Posted March 20, 2004 Posted March 20, 2004 Or you can just use VGA, VGA support is in 90% of games, and if it isnt you can try my guide, all the games work with any VGA monitor pretty much
Gee Posted March 20, 2004 Author Posted March 20, 2004 Ok So im going for the RGB patch Any idea if i can use it for the.NRG version of this game (which is what i have) Sorry im kinda new to patching games for anything other than pc Thanks peeps
Sane Posted March 20, 2004 Posted March 20, 2004 Well the RGB patch is probably for the original release of the game which was probably a CDI image. So I'm really not sure if it will work or not. I say try it out, a cdr isn't that expensive . If it doesn't work you can download a working one from me in romsterhub.ath.cx on Direct Connect. I won't be there today but I will be tomorrow.
