Gryph Posted March 10, 2004 Posted March 10, 2004 (edited) Just last week, the ogres at LucasArts cancelled one of the few games I (and thousands of other people) was looking forward to. This game was Sam and Max 2 and to those of you familiar with the first game, you'll know why its so great. This game was a perfect blend of comedy and adventure. The bastards already cancelled Full Throttle 2 but that was in November and the time has past. Even the developers of this game was shocked why it was cancelled because they were making such good progress. Even though this petition might mean nothing to the people at LucasArts, it's still worth signing. The people still have a voice. So please, if you enjoyed the first game and would like to see a sequel, sign this online petition. Adventure games must make a comeback! Please support this worthy cause. Sign the petition. Or face the wrath of Broom Hair! I'll play my crappy Kenny G music Edited March 10, 2004 by GryphonKlaw

Weirdy Posted March 10, 2004 Posted March 10, 2004 (edited) things like patitions don't mean jack sh¡t unless you use excessive force. The chances of it working are 1/1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 ...not signing Edited March 10, 2004 by Weirdanzeige

In the time it took to write all those zeroes, you could have signed the petition. I know this thing isn't going to work. Atleast not immediately. This is just to show LucasArts that people want games like this, and to send the message to them not to totally write them off. And by excessive force, do you mean kidnap George Lucas and say "RELEASE THE flockING GAME OR WE'LL SPLATTER HIS BRAINS ALL OVER SKYWALKER RANCH!"? Or do you mean that we should barricade all of the employees and then threaten to light the building on fire? Petitions are a legitimate way for the mass public to make their opinions known, in hope for some change, to the people weilding power. It's been done for centuries. Oh well, more power to you...you really showed us. Edited March 10, 2004 by GryphonKlaw
Captain FuKu Posted March 10, 2004 Posted March 10, 2004 Do we know for sure if LucasArts is even going to see the petition? I dunno, but I think maybe sending them a letter or something along those lines will have a far greater impact than some online petition. (There's petitions for just about everything imaginable.) I think it'll be more persuasive -- as well as personal -- if the fans would each send a letter. Just a thought. Still, futile as is, I signed it anyway.
Gryph Posted March 10, 2004 Author Posted March 10, 2004 Petitiononline is one of the biggest online petition groups. They do everything from government to this stuff. And believe me, they'll see it. They might and probably won't do anything about it, but they'll hear us. It's been posted on Slashdot and VE3D and those sites get mondo amounts of traffic so lots of other people have seen it too.
random guy Posted March 10, 2004 Posted March 10, 2004 Well I just signed and I was #10792... I dunno when the petition started but 10,000+ votes for a game that was released in '93...and that's just the people who bothered to sign the petition...I think lucasarts will listen to this voice and realise there are a lot of people who would KILL to play Sam 'n' Max 2 (I'm one of them ) Sam 'n' Max was such a cool game, and has anyone else noticed that there have been JACK all adventure games in the last 5 or even 10 years? Ever since Kings Quest 8 turned into an action/adventure title I can't name one decent point-n-click style adventure game (which always was my favourite type of game). Although, guess what...Sierra are creating a new Leisure Suit Larry game, LSL: Magna Cum Laude. Although, surprise surprise, its in 3D and it looks like you control larry rather than clicking on somewhere to make him go there. Stupid software developer, they had the formula right 15+ years ago, why do they persist in changing game styles around (and often ruining games in the progress!)
Chaotica Posted March 10, 2004 Posted March 10, 2004 I was never a big fan of point and click adventure games, but I'll sign because Sam and Max, along with games like Full Throttle and Monkey Island, were classics. I'll also sign because I think the current games market needs a boost, and that boost may well come from the past, when games were simply more fun to play.
