Max Posted March 9, 2004 Posted March 9, 2004 Hello, I came across an excellent PS1 deal (first generation, not the smaller one) but its not modded. Can anyone tell me if there is a boot disc of sorts or is a mod chip required? If the mod chip is required then how much does it cost? - Thanks
Weirdy Posted March 9, 2004 Posted March 9, 2004 (edited) idk...look here...I wanna buy that ps2 boot disk, but I wanna know if I can trust these guys Edited March 9, 2004 by Weirdanzeige
Shibathedog Posted March 9, 2004 Posted March 9, 2004 dont use either, there is a sticky in this forum that tells you how to do the swap trick very easily, just use that it would really suck if you bought a mod chip and there was a game that detected it and refused to play it would also suck if you bought a swap disc which you dont need, and can cause problems with certain games on the othger hand, you can buy a gameshark for 2.99 used (i was JUST at gamestop, considering i was hired there ) and use my guide
DanManXZ Posted March 9, 2004 Posted March 9, 2004 idk...look here...I wanna buy that ps2 boot disk, but I wanna know if I can trust these guysI dont recomend getting it from a site unless its a last resort to getting one. I use ps2 swap discs and their awesome. but if it comes with a slide card or something similar, they bust your ps2 and DONT USE THEM AT ALL !!!! Get a flip top or leave the ps2 top case open for easy swappage.

Shibathedog Posted March 10, 2004 Posted March 10, 2004 ah simple solution then Use the "Knife trick" also know as the "Credit Card Trick" (and NO the credit card trick DOES NOT Involve using a credit card to actually BUY the games... )

Cuz you have to cut the credit card into the shape of a swap card. Edited March 10, 2004 by DanManXZ
Sinasta Posted March 10, 2004 Posted March 10, 2004 Guys, Certain mods for ps2 systems are know to cause the system to blow a fuse. Myself, I have the swap magic 3.0 cd and 2.0 dvd along with a fliptop lid for my ps2. As of now I have over 70 titles. thanks to this. cd and dvd games. anyway if you are looking for a online store to trust, go here. This is where I get all of my stuff from plus if you have comments or questions about a product or whatever the case maybe, you will gat a response. http://www.xtreme-xbox-mods.com I recommend them to anyone.

DanManXZ Posted March 10, 2004 Posted March 10, 2004 (edited) I disagree the Magic 3.1 is bettermagic 3.1 works by making the dvd drive spinner spin faster than usual. Thus tricking the ps2 into playing burned games. Say one day u wonder why I cant play games anymore. Maybe it's cuz you got a mod chip. So one day notice the dvd drive is spinning too fast, making it too fast from the PS2 playing games. So you take mod chip thinking this will solve my problem. This doesnt work because you already changed your system from its default setting. Unless you know how to slow it down, I guess you got a problem. Edited March 10, 2004 by DanManXZ
Max Posted March 12, 2004 Author Posted March 12, 2004 Thanks for all the info guys, think I'll go with the modchip. I had a modded PSX before and it played everything flawlessly without any hassle, was just wodering if any advancements were made. Thanks again everyone.
Shibathedog Posted March 12, 2004 Posted March 12, 2004 is that seriously how it works? I research and found different It pretty much bypasses everything the PS2 says about security and injects the "Yes the special sectors are there" data into its memory Im not going to summarize the stealth technology part, because that would take all day
kaioshade Posted March 12, 2004 Posted March 12, 2004 I have a duo chip, and have never had any problems with the console at all. First boot everything works perfectly.
