ugenn Posted February 21, 2004 Posted February 21, 2004 Nothing lasts forever anyway someone will work out how to dump and emulate Atomiswave.until then lets just enjoy what we have. this also could be the end of SNKIt'll take years before PC hardware gets fast enough to emulate Atomiswave in a playable state.
kurupter13 Posted February 22, 2004 Posted February 22, 2004 im sad and happy too cause now kof is gonna look better.oh and the games are gonna be proted to the ps2 so i dont mind.
briz Posted February 22, 2004 Posted February 22, 2004 Well, emulation regarding neogeo games is over. Thats fine with me since I'll just get their new games on Xbox and play them on Live. This was the best move SNK could do. Their games will look much better, and get reconized more than before.
DasUberGoat Posted February 22, 2004 Posted February 22, 2004 another use of atomiswave? Long live the dreamcast architecture!! I too am actually kind of glad to hear this, not only because it'll hopefully mean some nice graphical upgrades for these franchises, but it will allow collectors like me to finally see an end to the slow trickle of mvs carts that have been comming out. When SvC came on its own board instead of a cart i thought it was finally over, now perhaps it is. Sad to see the geo turn the corner, but glad to see the atomiswave comming up the block.

Remember, PCs don't suck anymore like they used to. We're going WAY past Moore's law now a days. Anything is possible. It just takes the right person to get bored and create an emulator. ForceX Posted February 22, 2004 Posted February 22, 2004 Its been fun while its lasted.....But don't worry we will still have our PS2, XBOX and GC ports of SNK/Sammy's new games

darkesword Posted February 22, 2004 Posted February 22, 2004 So does this mean we're moving to 3D SNK games? Or are they going to stay 2D with crazy hi-res graphics? Personally I'm hoping for the latter; you get more personality in the characters with the anime-stylized 2D graphics. Just wondering...
DoubleDragon Posted February 22, 2004 Posted February 22, 2004 Well we just have to see whether or not how they do with the new hardware. Just like ps2, the first few games to come out for it weren't all that great. I just hope they know how to use this new hardware properly. If the atomiswave is base on naomi (more or less) emulation of it could be possible for it soon for someone supposedly is working on a naomi emu. Anyways, It was a great run for the MVS. You could say it was the single longest running system in video game history, but i guess all great things must come to an end.
Gryph Posted February 22, 2004 Posted February 22, 2004 (edited) The NeoGeo had a great run. Some of the best games ever. Now lets hope that Sammy can keep up the tradition. And from what I've played of Guilty Gear, they seem to have some talent. It's kind of weird how you need an uber-computer to emulate a not-so-uber console/arcade machine. Since it is basically a toned down Dreamcast. We haven't even gotten a proper running Dreamcast emulator so far. Perhaps someone will emulate Atomiswave FOR the Dreamcast since the instructions are practically the same (well I'm assuming that). Then someone will just have to dump the ROMs (which will probably be HUGE) and run them like any other DC ISO. That would be cool. Yes well, a toast to NeoGeo. You will always be remembered. (Why am I pretending that the NeoGeo can hear and understand this, because I'm insane.) Edited February 22, 2004 by GryphonKlaw
Agozer Posted February 22, 2004 Posted February 22, 2004 My Neo-Geo games collection will my full attention from now on.
ilike2l33ch Posted February 22, 2004 Posted February 22, 2004 i hope the gameplay for the kof games dont change just because the graphics change..like what cvs and cvs2 did to it
Gryph Posted February 23, 2004 Posted February 23, 2004 (edited) i hope the gameplay for the kof games dont change just because the graphics change..like what cvs and cvs2 did to itWell the gameplay in CvS and CvS2 changed because they weren't KoF games. . They were Capcom-ized SNK characters. Nothing wrong with that though, just different. But I think Sammy will adhere to the basic KoF gameplay framework ie. punching and kicking. But every new KoF game had some pretty big changes to the gameplay (for better or worse). Just take a look at KoF2003. That's a HUGE change in gameplay mechanics. And with those Guilty Gear minds working on KoF, you can except some pretty nifty things to happen. Edited February 23, 2004 by GryphonKlaw
Ken Masters Posted February 23, 2004 Posted February 23, 2004 finally, KOF will have a new home, but this is not an odinary home anymore.. guilty gear XX put fighting larger than life itself, so i guess KOF will get the boostit deserve from being one of the most successful game on the planet.. sad thing though, atomiswave is too much for PC but i guess it'll just take a littlegenius out there to beat the board..
Sturmvogel Posted February 23, 2004 Posted February 23, 2004 Finally Kof, Mslug and other games will get there do on a new board. About time they made the change...
