CoinOps2 Pointer Help (Adding Xbox Games)

Right, so I've been pulling my hair out ever since I managed to get this up and running. Firstly I'd like to thank everyone's work for the fantastic upload and great work thus far. Can't thank you enough

 

Currently I'm running (to my knowledge) the latest installment of Coinops2 (FULL). Took couple of days to download and another simply to unpack and FTP everything over but well worth the wait.

 

I would however like to add more games to the list (mainly my Xbox games). After much frustration and a heap of trail and error. I managed to get some programs to convert videos into .xmv's (damn that took ages). Also managed to get the game (just testing one at the moment) to show in the list of games, and have the corresponding video play in the background (finally).

 

I go to start the game and get: Black screen, wait..... then dashboard. In a fit of rage, I quickly head back to the ReadMe section of the download but still unable to get the blasted thing to work. No matter what I try, it always seems to be the same. Black screen, wait..... dashboard.

 

My current directories are as follows:

 

F:\Games\Xbox Games...

F:\Apps\CoinOps2....

 

Now I've also tried the following "pointer" setups:

 

Roms\Xbox_gamename.zip (containing the corrosponding pointer which reads F:\Games\Xbox Games\Game Name\default.xbe)

Result: Failed

 

Roms\Xbox_gamename.zip (blank .zip file)

Roms\Xbox_gamename.xbe (pointer file which reads F:\Games\Xbox Games\Game Name\default.xbe)

Results: Failed

 

Roms\Xbox_gamename.xbe (pointer file which reads F:\Games\Xbox Games\Game Name\default.xbe)

Results: Failed (game not even detected)

 

If I could please get some help on this, that would be greatly appreciated. I have asked elsewhere and have come up empty handed. Ive also spent countless nights trying to nut it out but have failed. There also doesn't appear to be any information about this issue on the internet either?

well... the shoe is on the other foot. emuxtras can't be linked but you can say google it and you'll get what you need, so if you say emulabs and google it i think that is ok.

 

i went to the site and it's dull... there's a post saying that mame should be taken out of coinops...

 

i like coinops before the consoles added but... i'll leave that alone.

the site has been open 3 weeks.... and im sure its had many many more hits that this place, but thats not what its about. its about helping people who want it

 

as i jave said before and I will say AGAIN.... I like the Xtras stuff, always have always will.... what I do not like is the BS war between everyone so I stay out... I piped up as someone needed help and got turned away by Link over a LINK (kinda ironic) whoever said no posting xtras links wernt me...!

 

I mentioned in before about links in signatures and copywrite stuff but that was not aimed at xtras , it was again a point about me teling people where to get help and files for coinops.

 

I grabbed the xtras stuff and SEEDED for AGES.... same with the MSX stuff recently I seeded over 70gb...

 

I love coinOPS as its in my cab and eveything just looks nicer accessable in one place and is hands down the best thing on xbox 64 or 128 tusty boxes !

 

its annoying when people wont help someone else because that got issues with someone else.... im mean WTF????

 

If you read the post by Mclane, he has not asked for mame to be removed... He just did not want roms that dont work being added to coinops like you see in mame...

Nope, but you can get an explanation.

 

The last time the members voted on something, they wanted coinops and all the associated things thrown out. So, that's how it is. However, if the majority of you now have a change of heart, or want to relax some restrictions, it can happen. Just set up a vote thread on anything you want, and if the result is reasonable (and within the main board rules), I will agree to it. It is the "people's forum", after all. Over to you.

Log on start a thread, log out, change name, log back in, answer own thread, pointless and

only merely serves to push real topics further down the page.

Which is obviously the intention.

 

If it does indeed have it's own forum elsewhere, then i say everyone is already happy surely ? Off you pop there then.

Why not post those topics on the said emulators forum, surely that's where all xbox emulation fans go apparently .

I'm sure all answers and support can be found there.

 

As you can already see with your dozen or so topics with only 2 replies each (mostly your other profile reply's) nobody is interested.

I'll repeat that "nobody is interested".

We've been down this road and we all saw what happened and what destruction and disruption it caused.

As you can see this forum is building up it's own head of steam once more, the last thing it needs is another thorn in it's side. AGAIN.

 

Though im sure the new users who have been coming here for 12 months or slighly more will have a much more balanced idea of past unecessary drama and the trouble and damage it caused.

Leave real emulation and emulators to emulation fans, if you wish to stick with your "Toy's 'R' Us" style emu then so be it,

that's your choice.

As has been said, it has it's own support forum which im sure is creaking under the weight of it's traffic.

 

On saying this, im sure lot's of this forums users also have an opinion on this.

im new here but have lurked for 2 years before joining mainly to get help on problems i ran into with my emus

so i know the shit that went down on here but never knew feelings ran so high that coinops cant even be mentioned

I have a job, a family and better ******* things to do than "login and out".... NO i am not gamezfan... if you think i am am thats up to, I am a grown man not a 14 year old kid with little other to do other than "login and out replying to my own threads" as you put it....

 

The threads I started are genuine and so are my replies to comments... Threads I start on the new coinops home are genuine, I have nothing to do with Gamezfan or Wired-child

 

I would love to know why you think that I am gamezfan... you mentioned before in a post we were from the same place... what did that mean exactly?

 

I will tell you this you ******** dinosaur, I had respect for you and what you do, regardless of what BP says or anyone else slagging you off weather its about your skinning stuff, breaking lightgun or support whatever.... I have my own opinion and that was you were a decent guy cus you were bothered to help me with my evox ini file.... Remember?

 

But if you wanna call me out, and slag me off saying all that ******** without even bothing to PM and confront me or backing up your argument, then all i can say is ******* I dont take kindly to it....
