Zhoul Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 its easy to code, just mame has alot of stuff to take into consideration also the screensizing code is completely different than exports as there is many screensizes(lots and lots and lots of different ones) and there is only one in xport emusHow does multiple screensizes make any difference? The games themselves don't actually run at their native resolutions. All games run at the same resolution that the emulator is set to run at: 480i, 720p, etc. If a game doesn't fit within the chosen Xbox resolution, then squishing the game to fit via bilinear filtering is always an option. If the emulator saves per game settings, then setting one game to use bilinear filtering should have no effect on other games. The key here is that the user has the choice to use point filtering to sharpen the games that do fit. This is far more preferable over the current method which looks like the games are being played behind a layer of Vaseline.

BritneysPAIRS Posted September 3, 2009 Author Posted September 3, 2009 point 1NTSC lines do not = PAL lines and there is no dection code to detect if it is PAL or NTSC at present Point 2old consoles run the same res so they have a fixed scale rateMame scale factor varies with each game so it uses a scale factor rounded to 2 decimal figures Point 3 if you have a percent screen width or height (2 decimal places rounded down) and devide it by a scale factor for the correction you setup (1 decimal rounded down) and multiple it by the mame scale factor (1 decimal rounded down) it is not allways perfect in fact its likely to be a few pixels different. Point 4Some guys overrun the max screensize mame doesnt support poitive scaling so this would cause errors at present Point 5Light gun code could be effected by this Point 6Other features of mame interact with this stuff....screen rotation code, cocktail modes etc there will probably be more..... I dont actually wish to talk about this stuff at present just reingnite....as stated ive looked at it and its not that easy, any patchs if done right get put in with a few tweaks normally by me. I will look at it again when im in the mood really but not before im not that intereseted in this. PS Ive finished a 4.5gig Showcase and a 8gig Showcase (I have also a 1000game video set matched but some arnt edited to the Showcase quality level). Its all finished testing and running each one has its own save and own name for the save. I am currently looking at my FBA build again and thinking about how id like it to run.
