Agozer Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Getting worked up about which console the game will be better on is laughable. Just pick whichever version you like, for the console you like. Let the retarded warmongers say what they want. It's true that from the diehard FF fans' point of view, porting something like FFXIII is sacrilege, but at least a port would [probably] give the X360 better coverage in Japan; something that the console direly needs. And we all know how much resources Microsoft pools into games and marketing for the japanese consumers. How well these tactics are faring is anyone's guess. The X360 and the PS3 are more or less on the same line graphically, with the X360 making better use of it's internal image scaler/processor, something which has (and still is, apparently) been the hot potato in the multi platform game comparisons. You're right about it all except FFXIII isn't being released on the 360 in japan. Don't ask me why...Ah, you're right. I missed that part earlier in this thread. Looks to be another case of "The japanese want their FF on a Sony console and since the US and Europe are more geared towards the X360, we're giving the port to them". Or something along those lines.
BlackKnight Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 I feel kinda sad, all this is gonna do is make a whole other group of gamers who may have been spared mindless FFtards........I second the motion that FF games are far-overhyped. They go by the quantity over quality approach; IE pour obscene amounts of money into the production to make sure the game is long and has awesome FMVs, if little else. With the exception of FFVIII, the stories are pretty bad, and not counting VI, VII and X, are plain horrible. They are chores to wade through, broken up by random encounters and cheesy dialogue.

Your argument doesn't hold a candle against the old ones like 2,4,5 and 6. Those simply had superb storylines and you cannot argue against that. I haven't played 7 at all and just a bit of 8 so I can't comment on the rest, but the old school ones were the best.
Wizard Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Old school Final Fantasys > New school Fantasys. Just because 7 is overrated doesn't mean it's good by any means.
GodPigeon Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Damn, Looks like Tekken might make its way on to the 360 after all.
Lucandrake Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Damn, Looks like Tekken might make its way on to the 360 after all. don't you dare say that It's gonna happen >.>, whether you like it or not ....
Wizard Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Who cares, I play Tekken at the arcade. At home is free CPU beat downs.
gavin19 Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Who cares, I play Tekken at the arcade. At home is free CPU beat downs. Well the fanboys for one. Plus, if it hits the 360 you can get/receive beat downs on Live instead

Plus, if it hits the 360 you can get/receive beat downs on Live instead Tekken holds the same stance I have with SC and VF5. Arcade only, latency IS a big deal to me for those games. Also considering the less then steller time I had with VF5 leaves to me to kill people, possible even genocide. DoA4 is probably the ONLY 3D fighting game with decent online play.
Gouken Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 Question... why wouldn't Tekken go to the 360? It is a Namco fighter after all? I understand Tekken has been on the PS mainly, but really... it's not good enough to be on one console and sell well this generation in my opinion. I say give it to 360 as well but make it higher quality in the process.

BlackKnight Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 Tekken is one of the few series that hasn't seen numbered entries ever ported to anything not PS branded. That's the only reason it won't come to the 360 and I'm thinking it's not a great reason at all atm.
L.S.D Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 Well, previously, nothing can beat the PS and PS2 in term of sales. This generation, X360 is giving PS3 a run of the money with huge market share in NA and EU (and possibly the rest of the world with exception of Japan). Not bringing this series to other regions is a bad move.

Not bringing this series to other regions is a bad move. From my understanding PS3 finally outsold the 360 in EU, but that doesn't matter much from the NA sales. Still doesn't matter, Tekken isn't exactly a premier fighter in my opinion. If it came out on the 360 as well maybe M$ would spend some of it's cash to make the game better overall. A pretty fighter never hurt anyone. A prettier fighter might hurt my wallet though.
