Ahmad89 Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 Sorry if i did not include you. The reason for my choice, islam was that one: my parents were muslim. Second: After a number of years i practiced my religion less and less untill one day..... i decided to get back to my religion and went on my own time studying my religion and others not that i didnt believe in my religion but to strengthen my religion.
Robert Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 Yeah I voted, and I think everyone already knows what my views are. Religion is a sickness of the mind. It has about as much validity as Santa Claus or the tooth fairy.
Elazul Yagami Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 so basically you're saying that all those that don't agree with your beliefs or opinions are sick in the mind?
Lucandrake Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 I believe everyone should find out themselves what they believe in, and don't be afraid of changing it even if you change it every day.
Agozer Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 I'm christian, although I border on atheism from time to time. I go to e.g Christmas Mass because it's a tradition, not because I want to.
Ahmad89 Posted May 31, 2007 Author Posted May 31, 2007 I believe everyone should find out themselves what they believe in, and don't be afraid of changing it even if you change it every day. Religion is not something that you do just to fit in or look for one that best supports your life, in my opinion. Religion is something that you look for to seperate right from wrong, good from bad. I wont pick a religion that practices cutting oneself just because the people in that religion i think are cool.
Lucandrake Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 What do you mean Ahmad? and why are you quoting me x.x
OverlordMondo Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 Uh...I listen to Pagan metal, so I'm pagan, right? I suppose I don't actively practice or anything, but it's cool at least. Probably more something I wish were true than something I believe in.
Ahmad89 Posted May 31, 2007 Author Posted May 31, 2007 You said that "everyone should find out what they believe in" which i dont think is right. People should not believe in santa claus just becuase he is gives stuff to people or whatever. He is not real therefore should not be believed in. Peoples way of life should be for the best of thier health and future and not for thier own personal enjoyment.
Elazul Yagami Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 ahmad, you misunderstood he meant should FOLLOW what they believe in as a FAITH.most people don't believe in santa claus btw.
ken_cinder Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 Where do you base those numbers, and how? You completely missed Catholicism, encompassed by several variations which I'm SURE make up at least what Christian base do. And no, they are not one in the same. And is their some sort of registry, that people have to attach their name to, that gives us these numbers? I'm willing to bet those numbers are GROSSLY incorrect, and a good half of the world is Non-Adherent (Secular/Atheist/Irreligious/Agnostic/Nontheist) 1.1 billion or at the very least, follows no strict religion, but more than one religion or a mixture. Anyway, in the end, I think religion is nothing more than a control mechanism for most of you sheep out there to be handled. Religion needs to be removed from the face of the earth (No, not necessarily the people following them), like unions.....Be an individual, or be gone. Theres no reason you can't believe in something without it affecting ANYONE else in ANY way. All the religious wars going on in the world right now, make me believe even more that the vast majority of the human race is F**KING DUMB and we as a race are doomed.
Mooney Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 (For the best dramatic effect, please read this thread while listening to Slayer - "Disciple" on the album "God Hates Us All") I'm christian, although I border on atheism from time to time. I go to e.g Christmas Mass because it's a tradition, not because I want to.That's pretty much how it is with me. I stopped believing in my religion right around when I asked my mom why I had to go to mass, and she said "I'm just getting you into heaven." I could go off on a rant about that comment right now, but I'd rather not.

These numbers might not be correct but i just put them as a base.As how do they classify them is i THINK is they grab all the people in a country for ex. brazil and classify them as christian even if they are not all christian or strict believers. And i know Elazul that santa is not real but i am using him as if he was a real (seperate from christiian) faith.
Elazul Yagami Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 cinder, the human race will ALWAYS find something to argue about, and since you're saying those that have a belief are sheep, dumb blah blah blah, can i assume you (and robert) are inciting a flame war? just because you don't believe or agree with something, doesn't mean it's retarded, or that people that do believe in it are retarded or what not... otherwise, a nintendo fan is retarded to a ps fan, the rangers fans are retarded to the yankees fans, the south is retarded to the north........ oh wait, i just proved people disagree and argue about everything that isn't religion..... hmmmm must mean that game consoles, the entirety of the usa (north and south) and all sports teams are retarded, useless, sheep....etc i follow my religon because it tells me to be my own person and think for myself and do good to others, not because of some of the warped people that claim they're preachers or followers of it.
ken_cinder Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 1: That was me, not agozer 2: Go back and read, and read properly. DO NOT rearrange my words to suit your own thoughts.
