I just followed the instructions. Modifications were done to driver.c, drivers\neogeo.c, common.h bangbedp is already in mame, just had to be commented back in and added to driver.c I found 2 mslug5 drivers that were completely different, so one has been renamed to mslug5a until I know which one is the right one. I only discovered your thread after I'd already gotten your stuff from a@h, I figured they are probably the same.

In my archives I discovered I had this rom. I tried to get standard Nebula to run it but it would not start. Then, I got the mame kof96 and replaced 241-p1.bin with the one from kof96evo.zip MAME gave an error about wrong crc and size, but it worked regardless. You can tell the difference because at the kof96 title screen, it says WESKER HACK.

Well the same sort of thing happened to me early in my news-posting career. Basically I was being lazy and I didn't know how things worked and that crediting was important. After talking to GameCop and Keith I was able to grasp the underlying concepts and post news in the accepted way.

Lucky I wasn't waiting for an answer... I've added 23 games that I was able to google the code for. The compile has just kicked off, I'll see how many errors I get.

I've never heard of that game, something to look for i suppose. I guess there must be some hack emu out there... What's the difference between normal kof96 and this kof96 evo?

It's like having good manners. You wouldn't want to deal with a rude person would you? It's the same sort of thing. It's bad enough to get reported on emunoobs, (and god knows where else). Take the case of pspupdates, they've had a history of not acknowledging their sources, and their name is now mud. Some developers will not allow news on that site. We don't want to go down that road. We can and will do better than that.

Now that I've gotten the hang of compiling, I'd like to add some games. Is it just a matter of adding a line to drivers.c and adding that other stuff to neogeo.c ? I'm going to give it a go anyways and see what happens.

I usually get my news straight from the official sites with the help of website watcher. In those cases I don't credit anyone, as it seems pointless, and I'm doing the same as what Keith does. But, sometimes website watcher has a hiccup and doesn't inform me of a change. Or, some news comes from a site I don't watch. In those cases, I still go to the official site to get the news, but at the bottom I'll add a credit to the news site (emulation9 or whatever) that drew my attention to the news. This is in accordance with the agreement that keeps the various news sites on friendly terms with each other. I can see some of you don't like the idea, but that's the rules that we all play by. It only takes a second to add a credit - why not do it?

kov2 rev106 (kov2106.zip) on Nebula 2.25 All I get is the PGM logo followed by a box with the computer time and date. rev 100 works, as does 9 dragons. Does rev 106 work for you?
