Compaq is part of HP so maybe HP sucks too. We use HP equipment at work, if the item is in warranty they are very good, usually a technician will appear on-site the next day and fix or replace it for free. But.. once the warranty is over, you may as well throw the faulty item in the bin and buy a new one. The reason being, they have a repair service but the cost will be about the same as a new item. And if you reject the quote, it costs $66 to get the thing back.

Please do not ask where to find roms. Also I think you typo'd your mame version. My advice would be to get the latest mame32, and see if the game works better. If it doesn't, it is probably waiting for someone to write better code for mame. edit: may as well close this. softtoe, if you still have problems, make a new thread and be mindful of the rules please.

President Bush is in Sydney this week for the APEC conference, which will be attended by 21 world leaders including the Chinese and Russians. But Bush has the biggest motorcade (21 cars), and some people are making a sport of trying to spot him. A large part of the central city has been fenced off for "security" reasons, and traffic disruptions are everywhere. We even get a public holiday tomorrow, especially just for this occasion. Yesterday the Bush motorcade (including Limo 1), went a whole 100 metres up the street. But even the President thought it was over the top, and when the meeting was over he walked back. Today there are motorcade movements by the hundreds today, and police and snipers everywhere. Anyone who gets near gets searched. I never knew we had so many police in this city. Luckily I work in a regional centre so am not affected. Already 2 security breaches have occurred, the first was a TV comedy crew who hired a few black vehicles and pretended to be the delegation from Canada. They got outside the hotel where Bush is staying before being detected. They were all arrested including the drivers of the limos. The second incident was minor, two staffers that work for the Opposition Leader were given passes that were marked "police" which would have allowed them access anywhere. Luckily the passes were cancelled before they were used. Tomorrow and the weekend will be the most hectic time yet. Although I do not care for the conference, it will be interesting to see what else happens.

In case you never heard of this fat guy, he was a world-famous opera singer, one of the "three tenors". He died of cancer of the pancreas a few hours ago, at the age of 71.

It runs a lot faster than in the old days, and runs a lot more games, but it's probably best to wait for the next release.

Personally I don't mind a few swear words but using them in excess can indicate immaturity. The owner wants this place to be seen by anyone without possibly offending their sensitive eyes. However I would like to see the filter switched off in the spam forum.

Looks like it's ok now. Thanks for the advice everyone. edit: When I posted this, the computer froze with svchost.exe again causing problems. This time I just rebooted to fix it for now. edit again: found i could not connect to work, this was because IE6 only had 56-bit encryption. Tried Firefox, it let me log in but then wanted to download a 123meg Java plugin. Er, no way! Then, found I had a service pack for this OS, put it in and i had 128-bit encryption in IE6, and could now connect to work with no problem. And without needing Java.

It's quite common to work in a number of places while you are young, it helps build experience in a number of jobs and situations. You really only want stay in a job if it's all you can get or you like working there.

It's easier to get an emulator that works better than mame ever will, such as bsnes.
