...no. You are wrong. I pretty much despise Eastern style RPGs. The last Eastern style one I played was Chrono Trigger and I got bored of that and went back to play Fallout and NWN. Hell, I don't even consider them to be RPGs since there is such little character development and rarely any varying styles of gameplay. Also, Diablo and Dungeon Siege are iffy in the RPG realm, they are basically hack and slash with some character development. Your a rare kind...it's almost like saying you like only asian girls but wouldn't be enticed to a sexy Italian babe not matter how she smells and struts those fine legs. That has got the be the most fscked up analogy I've ever witnessed. Eh, Mr. G just doesn't get turned on.

Yes, that's pretty much the basics of leveling up in most eastern RPGs. However, not all stats are boosted at once (in some games). I was referring to HOW you level up, not what happens when you do. And I was referring to Mr. G's question about levelling up.

Yup, hot and col was fun but it took me a while to find those damn places! After finding all that, I tried to beat Omega but I couldn't. meh. [edit]: Final Fantasy 9 wasn't that bad, nor was it that great. Heck it was better than FF8 in my opinion. FF10 was fun soley because of the blitzball and the unique "sphere" upgrades. I'm not sure about X2 though, never got the chance to play it. You mean Ozma I suppose. X-2 is fun, I don't care what some of you say. I still haven't beaten it though. It's hard and I've missed a few cool Dresspheres.

I run SH in ePSXe and it runs smooth as silk. I found a PC conversion on a certain BT site. I haven't tried it, but it seems real. There is no official PC conversion, mind you.

Chocobo Hot & Cold in FFIX is loads of fun. At least I think it is.

I sorta agree with Daeval, since FFIX had more vibrant colors and the more traditional graphical output, whereas FFVII and FFVIII were more techy. Still, being techy didn't make those games any less enjoyable on the whole.

To my knowledge, Shadow Hearts: Covenant was just released here a few days ago, but I don't have the financial backup right now. Its been out for months here...where you live? South Pole? Almost. We either get none of the cool releases or we get them way late. That's how it's always been and I blame the germans, the french and PAL50 for it. Although revcently we've started to see more and more good japanese RPG releases thanks to publishers like KOEI, Atari and Ubisoft.

FF9 Totally rocks every FF fantasy before it and after 5. Shame everyone hates something of it. 7 However, will always be the game Final Fantasy will be known for. No matter what, since it was the game that gave the Final Fantasy series a reinvention. I ditched FF7 a long time ago, and don't mind breaking the cds against the wall. Final Fantasy 3 (or 6 for you purists) will be the one that I remember because I actually liked it. I don't know if I'd like it now, but I liked it back then. Well, FFVI was the pinnacle of eastern RPGs... until FFVII came along. Word has it that at one point Hironobu Sakaguchi dropped the FFVII project when he started to doubt if they could pull off the transition to 3D so that the fans would still love it. Needless to say, everything worked well

How so? I find your reasoning a bit lacking. Games like Final Fantasy Tactics, Disgaea, Phantom Brave, Hoshigami etc. etc. are Tactical RPGs. I'd say they are more than qualified to be in the eastern category. And like Mr. G said, most MMORPGs are pretty much western, with a few excpetions like Final Fantasy XI Online, Phantasy Star Online and a whole bunch of Korean ones.

I honestly don't know. Maybe it was "too old" when they decided to start porting the SH series to the PC.
