thedonjuan Posted October 17, 2004 Posted October 17, 2004 I heard that microsoft bought out rare and will be reviving their best franchises.Does that mean we will see ki 3.I personally hope so
shin_nihon_kikaku Posted October 17, 2004 Posted October 17, 2004 Yeah but Rare suck now. Most of them have gone to Free Radical.

KyokugenKiss Posted October 20, 2004 Posted October 20, 2004 KI just doenst turn me on....too much KOMBO....but no heart
Agozer Posted October 20, 2004 Posted October 20, 2004 KI just doenst turn me on....too much KOMBO....but no heartCombo's and Combo Breakers are Killer Instinct's heart you know. There's nothing more satisfying that pulling off a 42-hit Ultra Combo, or when you pull a bigger-than-normal combo, time slows down for a moment.
ugenn Posted October 20, 2004 Posted October 20, 2004 Most of the ridiculously big combos are nothing more than auto-combos which doesn't take too much skill to pull off, taking away the satisfaction factor of actually pulling off one. eg. jago: flying kick, midkick, sword slash, heavy kick, midkick -> ultra ender. 6 motions for a 20++ hitter. wtf?? give me the "manual" jab punch -> SSRK anyday.
Agozer Posted October 20, 2004 Posted October 20, 2004 Most of the ridiculously big combos are nothing more than auto-combos which doesn't take too much skill to pull off,Yes, Ultra are more or less automated, but that doesn't take the satisfaction away, since you still have to do something to pull it off. If you reember the Ultra starter, that's all there is to it really.
Gryph Posted October 20, 2004 Posted October 20, 2004 I really liked the hitting sounds in KI. Very satisfying, especially after hearing a 20+ combo.
Elazul Yagami Posted October 20, 2004 Posted October 20, 2004 when i was in junior high, EVERY day i'd come back from school, go straight to my snes, pop in Ki and imagine that each character i was beating the crap out was someone that had gotten on my nerves that day... my math teacher was always eyedol.
thedonjuan Posted October 20, 2004 Author Posted October 20, 2004 its a classic game.If you get 2 experienced players in the same room your in for some great matches. Its still naybe even the best fighter in my eyes still
Cominus Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 (edited) KI just doenst turn me on....too much KOMBO....but no heart<{POST_SNAPBACK}>No dude, you don't understand, this is an arcade game which meanz there's nothing but the sweet sound of trash talking after you pull an insane combo, thatz what makez thiz game so great, you're like "ooo 26 hit'z biatch, ultra fawking kombo in your face, you got wrecked on negro, yo mama lovez da cawk, man!" stuff like that is what'z fun. I just noticed that my member # is like almst the same as my phone area code number 1-210-XXX-XXXX. Edited October 21, 2004 by Cominus

I own Killer Instinct for my SNES, and once, only once, I preformed a King combo with Cinder (I think King is 20-something hits).

In my arcade, KI's forgotten contemporary, Primal Rage, was right accross (face to face with) the KI machine. While most of the arcade memorized their dial-a-combos for KI, me and a few others were busy figuring out the more challenging "lightning" combos for PR. To me, those were far more rewarding because completing them was more work than the simon-esque autocombos of Killer Instinct. Seeing the lighting flash accross the screen and your opponent utterly decimated by something you'd pulled off using actual gameplay skills was just more of an event than hearing the killer instinct guy say "MEGA KOMBO" or whatever for the 8,000th time.
