I highly doubt it. Was it supposed to be like SSMB or some fighting game?

SMASH BROTHERS WAS THE PEE-OWNT! Don't you guys remember that :(?

I like how they use the bottom screen for comic dialogue. Makes it seem like they are actually going to piece these characters together into some coherent story. How would that possibly work.

Makes me think of all the US comic crossovers and how contrived they were to get certain characters to fight certain other characters.

Compared to traditional fighters, Smash Brothers style gameplay appeals to a much wider audience. The simple-ness and "party" style attracts young or extremely casual gamers, while they usually rely on much-loved characters to hook the hardcore fanboys.

Plus, they're party games. With the wireless capability of the DS (and possible WAN wireless play in the future), a party style game has interesting implications. Quite possibly, it will become the only thing nerdier than a bunch of nerds shouting at each other from in front of opposite computers at a LAN. However, it could make the lunch hour that much more entertaining for school age nerds.
