Diso Posted August 10, 2004 Posted August 10, 2004 type mame romname.zip it works! Or you can use the windows gui version http://www.classicgaming.com/mame32qa/
random guy Posted August 10, 2004 Posted August 10, 2004 Wow, someone who is actually too young to remember how the command prompt works People who still know DOS commands are a dying breed.
ugenn Posted August 10, 2004 Posted August 10, 2004 Wow, someone who is actually too young to remember how the command prompt works People who still know DOS commands are a dying breed.Know DOS commands? I'm one of those trying to forget I ever knew DOS commands.
stealthcat Posted August 10, 2004 Posted August 10, 2004 Use one of the window MAMEs. Makes me feel old when people don't know about it anymore. I still remember DOS stuff, it's ingrained, I can't dig it out of my head.

Diso Posted August 10, 2004 Posted August 10, 2004 Dos commands are still good to know. Ping, dir, ls (whoops thats linux) Its only if windows crashes and then you have to start it up again using fileview instead of explorer.
Daeval Posted August 10, 2004 Posted August 10, 2004 Yeah, if you're using Windows, which is highly likely, try MAME32 instead. I think the link is: http://www.classicgaming.com/MAME32QA/ No command prompt necessary!
nezumi Posted August 12, 2004 Posted August 12, 2004 respect the command line, beeyotch! you just unzip MAME into a folder, and copy all your roms to the %mame%\roms\ folder. then just cd into the folder where MAME resides, and type "mame romname". Or yeah, you could save yourself the trouble of learning some useful information which could assist you somewhat in learning the underlying foundation of your Windows OS-based computer and download a version of MAME with a graphical interface... but where's the fun in that?
OverlordMondo Posted August 12, 2004 Posted August 12, 2004 ... but where's the fun in that?Where indeed? Manually typing in your commands is fun! I don't see why most people don't just use DOS.
