Gryph Posted June 9, 2004 Posted June 9, 2004 also i feel like phreaking stupid but whats this "ROTT" game?ROTT is Rise of the Triad. The best most underrated FPS of all time. That game just came out at the worst time which lead to its downfall. It was released 2 months after Doom II and a few weeks or days before Heretic. Originally it was supposed to be a sequel to Wolfenstein 3D but they didn't really have the rights to it so they didn't. The plot (if you can call it that) is about this guy (El Oscuro) who is very Hitler-esque who wants to take over the world and you must stop him. The game had many revolutionary things like separate characters with different stats, a full multiplayer that supported 11 players (Doom II only supported 4) and had numerous game modes, LUDICROUS GIBS, and there is some more stuff. Also it was the first game to receive a 4 in the RSAC rating system (before the ESRB was formed) which was the highest possible. Such a great game.
L.S.D Posted June 9, 2004 Posted June 9, 2004 Hi Mr G. Can tell me how to play Quake and Doom on XP? Wolfie 3D also TQ
Gryph Posted June 9, 2004 Posted June 9, 2004 Hi Mr G. Can tell me how to play Quake and Doom on XP? Wolfie 3D also TQQuake should work on Win XP. But I think you need GLQuake. And K'dash already mentioned Doom95 for Doom. There are also some OpenGL ports for Doom, try Google and you'll find them. And you can use this to play Wolfenstein 3D in OpenGL. Reinstall your video drivers, that might fix your OpenGL errors.
L.S.D Posted June 9, 2004 Posted June 9, 2004 Thanks, Mr G.Now I acan relive the experience of shooting at the flying Hitler,or playing thru Quake without cheat at one go
Agozer Posted June 9, 2004 Posted June 9, 2004 Thanks, Mr G.Now I acan relive the experience of shooting at the flying Hitler,or playing thru Quake without cheat at one go Quake actually looks quite nice when GLQuake'd. Sure, the lighting isn't upto todays standards, but the game still gives me the creeps.

Do you know how much it affects the minimum requirements? A crap load. You need atleast a 3rd generation GeForce card to run it. Here's a pic (I apologize for its size) of it in action. You can read more about it and see more pics at the official site. EDIT: Here are the system specs: * PIII 600 * 64 Mb RAM * Geforce or Radeon card * Quake1 * Water vissed maps Edited June 9, 2004 by GryphonKlaw
Agozer Posted June 9, 2004 Posted June 9, 2004 (edited) Well, at least it looks damn cool. Now where's my new computer dammit? Edited June 9, 2004 by Agozer

Gryph Posted June 9, 2004 Posted June 9, 2004 One of the greatest underrated FPS games ever made Man that game owned so much.i dunno, i remember i got bored of it and just stopped playing it Was this when ROTT0 first came out or way after? When the game first came out it was revoluntionary but shadowed by Doom II. It couldn't have been boring back then... oh well. I downloaded the first release of Tenebrae and it was awesome but buggy. Now when I get home I'm going to get Quake I and the improved Tenebrae. Tenebrae 2 looks awesome too and it uses the Quake 3 bsp format but you can't really use existing Q3 maps. You have to make new ones, oh well. When its released it should be awesome.

People just use the level creator that came with Quake III to make all new maps. On the News page it says that converting old QIII maps to work in Tenebrae 2 would be really hard because people would have to code new shaders and stuff like that. There is this one game called Industri that uses the Tenebrae engine and it looks pretty cool. But it requires the full version of Quake and is a 30 mb download. But back to Duke Nukem, I'm really looking forward to the fully 3D characters.
Agozer Posted June 9, 2004 Posted June 9, 2004 But back to Duke Nukem, I'm really looking forward to the fully 3D characters.Ýeah, I'd really like to see the boss models, since they were kick ass and offered a fairly tough challenge....and the movie clips after them, only Duke Nukem style.
