Wizard Posted March 19, 2004 Posted March 19, 2004 Psychological games (i.e. Fatal Frame, Silent Hill [it dives the viewer into the deep and darkness of someone's heart = How can someone do such a thing?]) have more impact on the viewer then Pysical logical ones (i.e. Resident Evil), while others put on a great mixture of both (i.e. Doom [bodies hanging upside down and torn apart(visually), sounds(mentally) etc], System Shock 2). Silent Hill just captures the psychological side of your mind with a lot of "What If?'s" With Silent Hill 4 it takes the most common element used in everyday life, "Home is the safest place to be." What SH4 shows that, sometimes being in your home isn't the safest place to be, with your windows and doors being chained and locked. It also shows the insecurties within you, [the character] has within your own home.

Mostly Silent Hill and stuff works better though I treat fright like a drug, being frightened rules, i do it so much im hard to scare now

Inky Posted March 27, 2004 Posted March 27, 2004 fatal frame creeped me out the most.. geeze I only played it once and by the end of the night I was done. a few days later my wife asked "why don't you ever play your new game?" heheh I told her it sucked but I was just to creeped out, I traded it within 5 days of getting it. fatal frame 2 looks real good but I dunno if the same thing will happen.

Too afraid, I still have it tho. And FF2, wow, I rented that game and played it 9 hours. I stopped playing because it started to freak me out being in my room alone.

It's another one that combines the two horror elements discussed thus far.I still must look behind me sometimes to see if the scissorman is there! Cominus Posted March 31, 2004 Posted March 31, 2004 Why didnt anybody say nightmare creatures 1 and 2? That was just like silent hill, except you were sort of able to beat up you're opponents but with like civil war weapons.
Shibathedog Posted April 1, 2004 Posted April 1, 2004 (edited) yeah, that game isnt really scary, it just plain rules Nightmare Creatures 2, on VGA, With Rob Zombie Music (its featured in the game) On Dreamcast, beating up people with huge weapons, gore, scaryness, it just plain rules. By the way if anyone has Fatal Frame for Xbox id be happy to buy/trade for it (its not worth 30 bucks when i can buy the PS2 version for like 15 used) Edited April 1, 2004 by Shibathedog

Chaotica Posted April 1, 2004 Posted April 1, 2004 Aparently, Far Cry is supposed to be creepy as. The screenshots of the game look amazing. But I'm waiting for the ultimate chiller, Doom 3! I can't wait to get it as I have finally upgraded my computer!!!
