Saving space is a big deal. Most of us will have these other console sets somewhere on our harddrives already. I finally put together a full .084 romset plus all the updates from previous coinopses and that takes me to 4300 roms. I know thats kinda ridiculous. Gratuitous even. I'll be filtering out just enough clones to make it work with the current build's limit of one rom folder.

you can have 2 roms folders in coinops just edit the rompath in the advanced settings.

Then I'm not sure which version I'm running cuz I only see one rom path available. Hasn't this changed from release to release? I'll double check when I get home.

the rompath in the advanced settings is like i said for an extra folder its under more roms or even more roms something like that.

that option has been in for ages now just make sure to activate advanced settings, its in the last screen.

Look in tdata there is a folder named 4d414d49 in that folder is a folder called system in that folder is a file called Mameox.ini make rom paths here there is an option for 4 paths already. It looks like this

RomsPath0 =

RomsPath1 =

RomsPath2 =

RomsPath3 =

Oh Oh! I totally get it now. Theres the one default rom folder you can't change and then theres another extra folder you can specify. I was thinking we could set the paths ourselves to each folder.

Thanks for setting me straight fu

Edit: and thanks to you run088. I've learned alot today.

Since you have a arcade cab which is not a very mobile unit you can stream your roms from your pc if you want this is what I do. In the same file I pointed you to there is network settings if you set them correctly and use this structure it will work

SMB://WORKGROUPNAME/COMUTERNAME/PATHTOSHARE

Has to be this structure. It will not work for me unless the path look like this. On older builds of mame non coinops you could only point to one folder or the roms would not load but on coinops you can point to 4 different folders if you want and it works flawless "samba anyway".

500GB harddrive means not having to worry about space :) Still thats useful information for the vertical cocktail I'm working on. I plan on just leaving the stock drive in there and streaming music and stuff from the network when its used as a jukebox.

Might get you around the folder restriction so you will not have to lose any of your rom set. Ext2, ext3, or ntsf should not suffer from the folder restrictions. I would not think.

Got it sorted. Thanks to all for the help. It all sounded familiar but I've never had to deal with so many roms at once.

I've got too many previous installs of coinops to tell which save file I needed to edit so I put half the roms in the default folder and specified the other half in another folder in the advanced options.

With the other videos I've converted almost all the games have a video to go with them and I have only come across a couple that have no screenshot.

Question for DOA: Will the SNES games play on a rotated screen?

Posted

no SNES and Megadrive wont support rotation...or alot of stuff...they just play

They are both in and fully going

Just need to add the games...then maybe look at adding in some features...but everything launchs and plays in GUI now

Any idea how long the driver list is away?

Posted (edited)

The program I pm'ed you about is almost ready to go. There is a couple things he needs to fix for me but it will make both list in a matter of 30 seconds with only the year info to be added. I also asked him to make the system name selectable right now it only says Super NES or whatever.

I should be finished up with the snes list tonight. I was hoping the program was finished already so I did not have to finish the list manually. I already got all the year info but it should not take me to long to patch the rest of the display names by hand.

The app is already available for download so people can make there own preferred rom names but it needs more work at the current time. You can get it at xbox-scene in the emulator section in the thread called XBMC shortcut creator it will be packaged with that app on future releases.

Run the py file the same way you run it for the regular shortcut creator or the new bat that is included to run on the pc to generate your rom list. Put the generated txt file in the folder you have the app in then run the mameconfig executable file and it will generate an output folder with 2 text files inside one for the driver list and one for the other list.
