So its out there huh, Im gonna go have a talk with my friend google..off topic but shit did anyone hear about that spiral looking thing that was in the sky seen it on the news and youtube..weird shit.

yeah man looked like some wierd space ray firing out the base twirling up the sky with its cosmic radiation. Either that or a huge kick ass projector as a prank.

lol... not to keep the whole thread derailed, but I saw that video too. Somebody said that when rockets and missiles fly, they can lose their center of gravity (or whatever physics term it was) and can spiral out of control like that. Since missiles are relatively silent, it probably wasn't a rocket since there was no noise, but it did look pretty far away too.

My only problem with the theory is that that spiral was perfectly symmetrical and circular instead of oblong or wobbly. Maybe that's how a missile spiraling would be, but I'm just a junior college dropout. Go ask a rocket scientist.

I prefer the cosmic space ray theory but what the hey, we'll never really know for sure. Only what they tell us...

My... what the topic has become... If you notice there are several concepts/topics going on... :P And I think it's great...

I don't mind as long as the mods don't... (in my own thread at least)

I like this kinda of: relative, yet "off" discussion,

what are we all suppose to do...? meet each other on the spam forums...?

I'm with Rx,

the rockets wouldn't have a perfect spiral.

so yeah... I am 80% now on "Showcase" whoo hoo!

It's your thread: if you don't mind the off-topic comments then it's ok by me.

EDIT: Hey look! My "Warn" percentage went back to 0%! I know I was at 10% for like a year there.

I wonder if it aged off like a Misdemeanor or I bought my way into Heaven?

Your thoughts?

You had been good for the last year and a bit, and so I removed the warning a few weeks back.

Welcome to heaven! :P

well actually the sources are matched to the build like roms, keymaps, analog sensistivities, catagories, rom status, bad eprom issues, parents/bootleg mergers if only bootleg works, pictures, videos, game info, cheats, years, manufactures and alot more so if you want to set all this stuff up for yourself go ahead but without it you still see alot of issues that dont are not in showcase....its all about attention to detail if you dont care about that then its not a concern :) to get showcase but I wont support or look at issues as they are normally user issues. Videos/Pictures are by far the easiest thing for me to add with the tools I have its all automatic and I only need to click a button and it will grab all videos and pics to match

I wont support via sources any non offical builds anyone can do them but I wont put my name to them as theres alot more than meets the eye goes into these...alot more.

So if you want it for videos you have no idea of the attention to detail and why everything needs to be matched....to get something to Showcase level its not easy to achieve with such a large amount of things that need to come together in perfect unity...

you only want it for its videos, lol.

If that was the case...I already have some raw videos...

I definitely can imagine a lot of work put in all through "showcase".

I am with ya BP

I want it for "everything" it has to offer. :)

Sorry, I only have a few hundred or so random Mame videos...

(nothing I ever plan to use... especially with "showcase" put together. :) )

Why do you ask BP...?

Better source videos... I could definitely do some down the road.:(

I haven't even gotten the pleasure to see all of showcase in action yet, If there was a list or request for some videos to be remade, I could help out for sure.

ill make a list of videos for you in the weekend....if someone can get me game info for mame in txt ini or xml files I can tell you guys how to view them and ill add them to the build(only aplicable on new version of default.xbe with smooth scroll)...I wont add this stuff offically till its done right though as it will cause confusion then the pack will be part of the build I guess or at least an extras pack like the screenshot pack. I cant be arsed doing these sorry just need the source files alot seem to be in FBL.

******trig are you availble can you help me sort an issue with some code you will like...I forgot your MSN :).....trig where are you...plus I have some stuff for you on m-unit******

Cool

As far as re doing videos... I am a good man for that.:)

Game info? what info would that entail? (just name, year, manufacture, and such... or full synopsis style work...?)

Posted

full synopsis style work...triva any of that kinf of stuff. Ive found a way to enable it without clutter and not disturb people that dont use it....is will support any ascii file of the same name as the rom, must be named the same as roms

Manf etc is all done in source

eg rygar.ini in FBL is...............................

Awesome!

Yeah this is what I was talking about previously.

If you found a way to implement it without clutter, than that is great :)

I can make some as samples and give them to you.

Any other format preferences can be worked out after that...

EDIT: here is a sample of a game info I just did. (txt document)

Is there any special word wrap preparations or anything like that I need to do?

Or any other modifications?

Control one of the four Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as you battle through different time periods (prehistoric to the future) in this horizontal scrolling fighting game. The cool "3-D" effect as you throw enemies at the screen and the funny speech ("Ooh, forgot the sunscreen!") make this game memorable.

Trivia
The pizza-munching turtles originally appeared in a black and white comic book that debuted in 1984. They were so popular that they immediately spawned imitators with colorful names such as "Armor-Plated Adolescent Aardvarks!" and "Adolescent Radioactive Black Belt Hamsters". A cartoon series based upon the Turtles' adventures debuted in the United States on the CBS television network in 1987.

The first names of turtles -- Michaelangelo, Raphael, Leonardo, and Donatello -- are the names of Italian Renaissance artists who lived between 1386 and 1564. Three of those artists had full names which were respectively Michaelangelo Buonariti, Raphael Sanzio and Leonardo Da Vinci, but as for Donatello, that was his only name.

it works exactly the same as help file...adjust that and you will see how it all works....think thats help.txt.

Anything like that I guess is all good....just need to match at least 1200 games before I add it to showcase and maybe 1800 :S

Posted

I plan on cleaning up the format and maybe arranging them differently as far as what info comes first and such.

Sorry BP... "help file" maybe my mind is going blank... what help file are you talking about?

Some way to test them along the way would be nice. :)
