It's that day again, the one that is set to remind us about what we were doing on this same morning a few years ago.

I was chilling, with my Yugioh cards, in middle school, in my homeroom class, and suddenly the next door teacher barges in screaming "One of the twin towers just got hit by a plane, no one knows wtf's going on!". Then the bell rang, and for the rest of the day, I was the only kid in school seeing as every single parent in Florida assumed that first towers, next, schools!

OLD WTF

Seriously, I'm getting sick of this 9/11 bullshit. Yeah it was terrible, but worse things happen on a daily basis in other parts of the world. World War II spanned 5 years and over 70 million people died as a result of it, thousands at a time on daily basis..........yet people don't talk about each occurrence each day.

It happened SEVEN F**KING YEARS AGO! And again, it sucked.........but everyone needs to get over it, and stop waving this flag. The rest of the world looks at you with the same eyes one looks at a 3 year old throwing a temper tantrum because of it.

50 years and 7 years are a big difference.

Also were still going through the effects of the stupidity of men, so it's worth a mention.

Well i was in school, and they had an announcement saying to close the windows. They hit in Manhattan but the fumes reached all the way to brooklyn with ease.

A Few kids started crying because they had family that worked in manhattan.

And there was No TV for about a week because the antennas were on that building and we didnt have cable lol

That was in 6th grade.

I was at an electronics story in downtown Helsinki when suddenly the clerks switch all the TV sets there to the local news stations, covering the events from from the beginning (obviously not much pictures or video feed at first just a lot of speculation and talking to news reporters stationed in the US)

Also, lots of 9/11 documentaries on TV this week, including but not limited to stuff about the conspiracy nutjobs and Loose Change.

That is so very true.

I was in school, probably, not doing much. It was news, to be sure, but there wasn't so much as a small break to inform anyone, the news just spread eventually. I was joking about it that very day, which probably makes me a dick, but eh. I'm with Cinder on this one, it's old news and people need to move on.

Damn this thread to hell.

A matter of fact, damn anymore every year on this day.

Oh and I might add, the death toll is pinned at 3000 for the events of 9/11.

Know what the death toll in US soldiers alone in Iraq is? (Not even including Afghanistan) 4155! With over 30000 wounded.

Now.....tell me I shouldn't be telling people to STFU about 9/11 and move on. I dare you......

There is a difference between moving on and forgetting all together, and you obviously assumed that the purpose of this thread was to mourn and cry over the event, it isn't, so shut your whining and re-read my first line, it's about remembering the day!

Are you seriously saying we should forget about a certain day and replace it with the memory of a different occurrence over death count? That's like ranking tragedies, in that case let me forget the day my grandmother died and replace it with the tragedy of the Civil War because idiots actually believed slavery to be fact.

Wasn't saying forget, was saying this thread is useless and unnecessary. There are days of remembrance for many things, and people observe them.

What they DON'T tend to do, is dredge the same thing up over and over by trying to put it in the public eye, like this thread is doing.

I'll say it again, it just makes it look to the rest of the world like americans are 3 year olds pulling a tantrum.

Every year, it's like 9/11 overshadows ANYTHING that has ever happened prior because people act like they need to put up some huge sign reminding everyone as if they forgot. It's flocking annoying and I'm sure the families of victims aren't appreciative of it. Remembrance is one thing, insisting on publicizing the same thing year after year by not just something like this thread, but the media even is asinine!

If you feel a thread is useless then ignore it! It's that simple, some people prefer to remember in groups (although this isn't the majority reason media does occur towards this day) it is the reason I went ahead and made this thread. If you feel like a 3 year old for remembering something tragic (and go ahead and attempt to justify it as a immature act of the brain with the words "There have been worse") then that's your way of dealing with it, and it pisses me off that you attempt to even drop the bomb of "I don't care you should move on" by throwing attention to yourself and doing the complete opposite of what your claiming we should "all" do.

Overshadow, that's a sense of self, and for me this day isn't as emotionally reckoning as Christmas when the entire family can't stop arguing and my father decides beer's the best way of shutting everyone up (not drinking it, physical use of it however to his logic is the best way!), but it's worth a mention (as I said before). Then you go on to say that the family of victims aren't appreciative, unless you have someone that actually was there on that day and suffered to a high event (I highly doubt any of the 3,000 people are related to you), don't speak for those you don't know, if they are annoyed and feel the same way as you (annoyed, wishing the news didn't mass coverage the day) then they simply have the same ordeal going on as the rest of us who happen to be 3 years in age, and that's getting over it.

If you want to remember the day in a solo fashion, then do so, don't step on the shoes of the people who feel it better to attempt and remember together (I say attempt because you seem to be on a piss train today, if your still mad about the bike incident I'll go ahead and tell you the same thing "Get over it").

Wouldnt it be more simple for all of you that dont care to just shut up and allow those that do want to say what they have to say alone?

I mean no disrespect but you guys sure do.
