Portal was eaten up by the whole gaming community because it was different, exilierating and most of all, fun to play.

 

But to me, Portal was uninspired and only got famous because of the Cube and the song.

Mirror's Edge seems uninspired to me, and I can't even tell why it's so famous or hyped up.

 

Although this is the least relevant criticism to level against it, that chick looks like ass.

So far it got me hyped. Parkour and combat, this is superb, seriously, and the music is inspired too. I don't think it's overly ambitions either. Just seems like a good mix of ideas. Makes me glad I have a 360.

I like the idea behind it but I don't like the coloring paths to run along. To me it makes the game more linear.

You know I kinda agree, I mean, it's like you're being given a walkthrough ingame. Personally I'd much rather have to use my brain in these kinda situations.

Well they did say that as the difficulty increases, the less the pathways are shown.

There was a walkthrough of a level showing puzzle that you had to complete in order to move forward. IIRC I didn't see any highlighted objects that you could utilize in order to solve the puzzle.

While I don't think this game will be as large a revolution as some people anticipate it to be, it still is nice to see a FPS that is trying to do something different. Hopefully the genre will get shook up abit.

I feel you bro, it's exactly how I felt. Pure epicness, music can be better than game for all we know (kinda like how new Alone In The Dark is, decent good game but music beats it by miles).
