Sybarite Paladin AxL Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Azureus crashed my computer and forced me to reinstall my OS 2 years ago. It's also very heavyweight, bloated and eats up alot of memory. uTorrent is lightweight, barely even touches my memory consumption and does the job quickly and stylishly. also it's the one client accepted by everyone at the moment.
Agozer Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Another vote for uTorrent. I choose to stay away from Azureus thanks to it's ties to Java.
Shibathedog Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 yeah the java thing sucks, but if you have the RAM and CPU I'd use it. Just don't play any games while its running Azureus is also not banned from any private trackers.
Agozer Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Azureus is also not banned from any private trackers.uTorrent is?
alexis Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 I use azureus mainly and have sometimes used ares, they are fine, what I like from azureus is that it lets you download single files from the whole torrent archive, dunno about other torrent programs
Gryph Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Azureus is also not banned from any private trackers.uTorrent is?Nope.

Agozer Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 BitComet was banned by a whole bunch of trackers a while back. I don't know if the situation has changed since then.
Shibathedog Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 The situation has not changed since then, BitComet and BitLord are forever banned until they change their unfair filesharing ways uTorrent IS banned on some private trackers, Why? That whole privacy issue thing, Versions 1.6.something and above where banned for a long time, Once everyone stopped being paranoid and everyone found out what it was many trackers unbanned it, but some still have it banned from then, and probably just haven't gotten around to unbanning it yet. This is a small number of trackers, but can still be a pain in the ass.

Devia Eleven Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 You should also try legitamate P2P softwares like Direct Connect ++ (DC++), Ares, or eMule.
Gryph Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 They are all legitimate software.no u are oh snap what? But the last thing you should use is crap like eMule.
gymnist1026 Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 uTorrent is my client of choice...i also use DC++ on occasion, it all depends on what I am looking to get at the moment.
