onetrueblade Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 Well? Do you have a band you really like that doesn't get enough credit? For me, the two bands I can think of right now are Helmet and Craw.
Alpha Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 Here's my list: - Yes (that's a band)- America (Made a lot of patriotic songs... ones you wouldn't mind singing around a few people (as opposed to star spangled banner))- Toto (Rossana? Hold on to Line?) - Queen (unfortunately, many children don't even know who he is. They may have heard "We are the champions" in a football stadium, but that's about it)- Philip Bailey (This guy had some great songs in the 80's)- Mr. Mister (another 80's band)- Nirvana (Another unfortunate situation, a lot of children have no idea who this guy is. In fact, sometimes I think parents purposely try not to mention the band because the lead singer supposedly committed suicide)- Survivor (These guys created some of the most memorable songs for Rockey. Outside of Rocky, they're nobodies. I don't get it ... a lot of their songs not made for Rocky are great too!)- Duran Duran (Another band everyone forgot about. "A View To A Kill" anyone?)- A-HA (Yet, another band people don't recall. "The Living Daylights" anyone?)

My favorite would have to be "Shout". For the longest time though I always thought the lyrics said in one part: And when youve taken a dump you gotIf I could change your mindId really love to break your heartId really love to break your heart But it really is: And when youve taken down your guardIf I could change your mindId really love to break your heartId really love to break your heart You learn something new everyday!

They are TOO OVERRATED Axl Rose Project (Hear "The Blues")I corrected it for you Axl Rose is always in the news, even he still didn't release anything. I don't think it's underrated for an artist who still didn't release an album which was announced 13 years ago.
Wizard Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 The DarknessI believe in a thing called loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooove uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH NHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Surprisingly, it's a song I've covered out of pure fun. Edit: half these bands mentioned are beyond underrated. Queen? Who doesn't know Queen are kids these days (well not exactly, My Chemical Romance & some other band do cover Under Pressure by Bowie/Mercury). But if you happen to be in a band, you know Queen. Same goes for Nirvana, Velvet, Cure, Duran Duran, The Smiths (Love Marr, hate Morressiey). Death Cab = are indy-ish, Static-X and GNR = totally mainstream. Nirvana is known too much. Post-Grunge is known :/ But what about some other bands, Soundgarden, Temple of Dog, Greenriver, Mother Love Bone, Alice in Chains and Mookie Blaylock. There's also Joy Division (Post-Punk) as well.

I don't think it's underrated for an artist who still didn't release an album which was announced 13 years ago. Axl is the man, he need more attention brought to him, I say he is underrated, everyone news outlet that talks about him only have negative things to say about him. So yes, he is Underrated... atleast he is IMO. BTW, I have been waiting for that album for a long time. Hopefully we see it drop next year. (* I'll be waiting axl*)At the moment, the album was announced for February 12, 2008. I don't there's something positive about him after 1994. He disbanded the band and now it's full of mediocre artists. At least, he should change the band name. This band is a joke for any old Guns N' Roses fan.
Explosive Misanthropy Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Velvet UndergroundLou Reed (Velvet Underground singer gone solo- Check out Perfect Day off the Trainspotting soundtrack)Yeah Yeah YeahsBuzzroostersChoking Victim (definitely worth checking out)Leftover Crack (same as Choking Victim different drummer)The DistillersThe FaintThe Locust (noise Rock, mostly not understandable, but the music itself is OK...but I find it cool that they use insect noises)The Pixies (They did the last song in the last scene of"Fight Club" called "Where is My Mind" Also, check out "Gigantic" I love that song)Steppinwolf (Come on.... you know you love that magic carpet song)Psycotica (the best band of the 90's you never heard of)PlaceboThe Dead Milk MenFreezePop Oh the list just keeps going! So much music....so little time!
Krosigrim Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 Ok. For the record, we don't have the same taste in music, EM and I. Anyway.... I'm stunted in the music field. But if I were to say anything........ They Might Be Giants. Just on the fact, that there lyrical content, is way pastr the edge of sanity. The sun is a mass of incandescent gas, a giant nuclear furnace
BlackKnight Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 An interesting piece of trivia- Lacuna Coil showed up for a record signing at an electronics store in the Sydney CBD last Thursday. While wandering the store you could overhear a lot of the staff whining about how the forgot the band was coming that day and how they'd never even heard of them before. I found it quite funny. Guess that makes them an underrated band?
Wizard Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 I'd love to say that the Pixies are underrated, but they aren't. People have at least heard OF them. It wasn't Fight Club alone that catipulted them to great fame (in the U.S. to say the least, they were VERY popular in Europe during their `87-93 tenture). The fact Nirvana openly mentioned that they admired them and took their very much loud-quite-loud music dynamic. Even as far as saying they were trying to rip off "Debaser" for Teen Spirit. Of course the Foo Fighters as well owe their style to the Pixies as well. Covering "Tony's Theme" frequently in 1996-97. tl;dr: Pixes aren't underrated anymore. Maybe 20 years ago yeah, but certainly not now.
