picked it up a couple days ago, and id say it was worth the hype, the controls are a little weird and took me a little bit to get used to, but once you do they are very good, i like the game alot

 

anyone else have it? play on live?

 

BTW Graphics are pretty amazing, and only on DX9 hardware, cant wait to see this engine on DX10! (Its the new Unreal Engine if i remember correct)

Yeah, Gears of War uses the Unreal Engine 3.0.

Got the game yesterday and yeah it was well worth the wait since 2005. Planning to finish singleplayer before going into multiplayer.

Yes there is a collectors edition. It costs $10.00 more but it comes with a bunch of other stuff. Personally I just got the regular edition.

Since the 360 isnt DX10 I suppose it makes me feel better about running UT2007 now that I dont really want to shell out for one of those beastly GF8 cards.

 

Either way I hate that Gears of War is a 360 exclusive. Its one of those games Ive been really hyped about even though I wont get to play it. Glad to hear that something finally lives up to the hype.

I also have been waiting for this game for a long while and will pick it up at the end of the week. From the things I have heard/seen about it, it looks like it is gonna be one of those games that will be remembered.

personally i dont find the collectors edition worth it, the stuff you get is pretty much worthless IMO

 

but yeah im pretty hooked, ive been playing a mix of single/multiplayer whenever i have time to (which isnt THAT much lately because ive been at work way too much probably lol)

 

its one of those games having a sharp TV and loud/good sounding speakers makes really amazing to play

i was so dead set on not getting a 360 till i played with my friend yesterday now im getting a 360 just for this game. o ps the lancer chainsaw never gets old!!!!!

I like the game, only thing that irks me is the controls.

Unreal 3 engine really show some impressive visual (mostly the character models). However I find the level design is kinda meh, don't think hey aren't really unreal 3 graphics, not even close to 2.5 (hell, the level in splinter cell are breathetaking compare to this).

 

Ok for the gameplay, I can tell you this; kinda repititve. It's always the same routine: run, hide, peek and shoot, repeat. The guns are pretty fun though, specially the gun that fire a beam from the sky down to the ground. In close quater combat it's always fun, the chainsaw gun really show some originality.

 

I do recommend this if you like this kinda gameplay.

Man!!! I was going to buy it but my 360 just broke!!! For no apparent reason to ><. Now I have to wait till December to get this and a couple of other titles (STH, CoD3). What luck .
