Well, I'm happy also with my 360 right now. Seeing as the PS3 release games don't appeal me to a point of "wow" I'm looking away from it. The Wii has me worried a bit, so I'm waiting till summer to even attempt to buy one.

I don't really care about 360. I think it's bullshit with nothing of value on it, just like it's predecessor. I hope it dies... as for Wii, there's going to be tons of RPG sequels that are going to make it awesome, the super backwards compatibility is way cool and combine it with an accessible price and you've got yourself a very strong competitor for console of the year. PS3 on the other hand I don't really have any idea. That controller looks horrible to be honest. But the reason I'm getting it is because I'm such a Final Fantasy fanboy and I couldn't bare to stay away from Final Fantasy 13/14/etc. and alot of other awesome games series. OFC I'd always search for a way to play "backups" on it.

Both, Because they're both really great machines. Each of these new machines have diffrent set of features, Which makes them all great.

So, between PS3 and 360, which one you like more?

My vote would definately be with the 360 or the PS3. I also see the Wii's longevity being minimal- I think it will die a disappointing and unceremonious death in the next 16 or so months once the hype has really gone.

As for the main 2... Ive always wanted a PS3 but it seems like Sony is finding every way possible to stiff me. The recent debacle about PAL backwards compatibility is the last straw- my existing library is really the only thing that is still tethering me to the console anyway.

If Microsoft actually releases the rumoured black profile 360 next month (rumoured to have a black case, 120gb drive and HDMI) I will be sorely tempted to pick it up.

Well the HDMI port was debunked a few months ago sadly. But the new SKU is reported to contain the new 120GB HDD. The black case though, is definately a rumor I hope to be true.

Aparently that rumoured unit was shown at a Microsoft sponsored meet n greet with the retail chain here Myer. My friend who works at the Martin Place branch confirms that such an event took place there, although he wasnt invited obviously.

Dunno why they would want to market it initially in Australia, except of course to blunt the PS3 launch, but either way its the black casing that would make or break the deal for me.

No offense, that's kind of a retarded reason.

Not really... its just the last factor on a long list. The new specs... all the game exclusivity issues... as well as remaining almost $400AUD cheaper than a PS2. Assuming the price isnt raised of course.

only thing i dont like about the ps3 is the lack of games but they are starting to come out now and right now the graphical standpoints are very minimal. btw if anyone here wants to play some gears online my gamertag is solidius2778. hit me up

What are you trying to imply here?

I could extrapolate from those results that the PS3 has successfully scared the sh!t out of everyone with its price- same with the PSP.

Thus most are settling for substandard products - Wii and DS - mostly because of the price points. The sentiment everywhere is 'let's get a Wii now coz' its cheap and we can get a few laughs out of its gimmix, and then in a while, when the price drops, get a PS3'.

Until today, I would have vehemently argued the $400AUD youd pay for a Wii is still worse value considering what you are getting than the $999AUD for a PS3. But now, honestly, flock Sony. How can you change the specifications of a machine so close to its release AND AFTER IT HAS ALREADY SHIPPED with a superior specification elsewhere. And how can you still justify the cost? Until recently the machine has been quoted to be 'fully compatible with the PlayStation and PlayStation 2 libraries'. Now they say they actually are focusing instead on PS3 titles.

Does anyone else remember back when the 360 had its BC problems, Sony was quick to advertise that the PS3 would be different in that regard? Oath.

...

Anyway, back on topic, those are Jap figures. I now reckon if youre gonna shell out $400AUD for a Wii, you might as well spend the extra $150-$200 and get a 360. Seems to be the best value on the market atm. Here in Australia at least- not sure how the prices match up elsewhere.

Sorry, just a bit of a pissed off rant there.
