It is not recommended to write at maximum speed.

I don't think you have a cd factory there, it's just for personal use and even on 32x a cd is burned very quickly.

It is not recommended to write at maximum speed.

Why is that exactly? I remember reading several articles on how the urban legend of 'Burning at very high speed somehow makes a worse end result' was proved to be false.

Burning speeds should have no effect on the overall quality of the burned "normal" CD or DVD, unless we are talking about console games (because those above all else are touchy), or the temperature inside the computer is too high, or the actual drive is somehow faulty.

There should be no reason for a person to use anything but the maximum speed allowed by the used medium, unless it's something I mentioned above.

Plus, the quality of medium brand, how well the computer can sustain the data rate between the drive and the HDD, and buffer underrun prevention make a world of difference.

I'm not saying you can't technically burn at 52x.

If you have good blanks go ahead.

But which cd writer would last longer between one that wrote only at 52x and one at 32x ?

I think the one which wrote at 52x will "get tired" first.

This is the way i look at the situation, maybe you guys buy a writer every 3 months but i don't.

I certainly am not buying a new writer every 3 months, let alone 3 years.

2 years ? Well,there you go,it got tired..

Write at little speed, where's the rush ??

24x or 32 x will be just fine and still burn fast.

I mean it takes 4 minutes to burn at 24x,imo that's satisfying.

If this burner has had alot of use and now is giveing errors at high speed burning it is more or less telling you its on way out.

The laser does not last forever you know.

If you are getting no errors at slower speeds then keep useing it but you will need a new burner sooner ot later.

Go into your CD burner program and see if you can increase your buffer size, that helps for alot of people

Also, i heard somewhere that burning CDs at 52X with any drive is just like not really too stable or something, something to do with the chemicals in CDs and its just not really something you should do even though you can, i wish i remembered more about what it said, but they said you should just go to 48X, which isnt much slower anyway.
