AndymaN Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 Yeah well my friend and I were discussing games and such. Then we were trying to think of American RPG's that were above standard. We couldn't think of any. Lets not name any MMORPG's either (WoW, Everquest)
Smilee Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 Diablo series and Fallout series are great rpg's
L.S.D Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 Diablo series and Fallout series are great rpg's<{POST_SNAPBACK}> I wouldn't call Diablo an RPG. It seems to be more hack 'n' slash. was baulders gate american?<{POST_SNAPBACK}>And yes, how did I miss out the best RPG of all time, Baldur Gate???
Wizard Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 BG, Neverwinter Nights, Shadowrun, Knights of the Old Republic, Morrowind, Temple of Elemental Evil Gotta remember though, these all use the basic system that was founded in Dungeons & Dragons.

Chaotica Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 Shadowrun was good, but I don't think Temple was very good. I have never played it, though. And you are forgetting Planescape: Torment, probably my favourite RPG.
NeoMaster Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 I think Baldur's Gate was created by a Canadian company. Oh well, all the same. Dungeon Siege comes to mind for an American RPG.

I need something with great story and sidequests like Baldur Gate
NeoMaster Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 LOL, its really fun if you play it with friends...me and my buddies spent 4 hours straight clearing out the mining dungeon. It was pure joy.

Daeval Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 Morrowind - Easily one of, if not the, best original american RPGs in recent memory. Fallout would be a very close second, and it barely even got a nod in this thread. The D&D games are good, but are based off of well-established pen and paper stuff, as someone else pointed out. Planescape: Torment was my personal favorite, mostly because I already loved the Planescape setting.
Daeval Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 (edited) Stupid double-post time-out crap. Edited February 2, 2005 by Daeval
