Xtreme2damax Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Bioshock was the most recent game I've played and finished. I know Bioshock has been getting a lot of criticism, but I have actually enjoyed playing this game. From the moment I started playing I felt immersed in the underwater "utopia". The voice acting is immensely great making you feel as if you are actually a part of rapture. Levels aren't too linear and allow fair deal of exploration without much backtracking. The vita chamber is great since it eliminates the need to reload the level again and sit through a lengthy load time. The most challenging enemies are the big Daddies. Final boss battle was a disappointment though, not really a challenge and seemed really out of place with the setting of the game. Overall I'd give it an 8.5/10.
Wishdokta Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Agreed. I'd give Bioshock a 10/10. No comparable shooter out there with this spice - and not been put into hell boring war scenario.
solidius23 Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 pm me all the guides u used inky im thinking of getting a second 360 to flash.
Wizard Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 Peopel said Bioshock was "bad" ? WTF It's like GOTY quality.
emwearz Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 First I have heard, sure it is shadowed by Crysis and Call Of Duty 4, but on its own it is a classic game, well worth the time of any FPS fan.
Gryph Posted February 7, 2008 Author Posted February 7, 2008 the club. When did that come out? Its not Peopel said Bioshock was "bad" ? WTF It's like GOTY quality.Movement felt really off to me in Bioshock. It's a good game but I disliked too many things for it to be GOTY material for me.
Xtreme2damax Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 (edited) Peopel said Bioshock was "bad" ? WTF It's like GOTY quality. Yes there were some who said that believe it or not. Goes to show that you can't please everyone no matter how hard you try. Edited February 7, 2008 by Xtreme2damax
Wishdokta Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 It had GOTY potential to me. Rapture knows to entertain - I can't say that of the fifty military shooters out there.
gavin19 Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 (edited) If I hadn't sold my 360 like 6 months ago I'd still be playing Oblivion As it is, I'm playing (re-playing) COMI on ScummVM for the Xbox. Beautiful 2D environments, challenging puzzles and just top gameplay. Edited February 11, 2008 by gavin19

Goes to show that you can't please everyone no matter how hard you try. I was one of those people Didn't like it because the weapon mechanics took a quanitity over quality approach. There were too many plasmids and tonics and while they mostly looked different, didn't really do different things. The enemies were boring, the shooting was not visceral enough, and Gryph is right in saying the movement is of- Johnnie or whatever feels like a rag doll on steroids. My biggest problems with the game are the parts people hype up... first off the setting. It's underwater.. so what? It's not the first game to do that. When people throw around words like 'art deco' or 'dystopia', they are just showing they have no clue what's going on, but like to feel that they enjoy a game that is a bit more intellectual. The story is also pretty immature itself; a bunch of random people's memos? People bagged out Doom 3 for using PDAs to progress the story while the laud Bioshock for doing the same thing? Finally the moral choice business... easily the biggest gimmick and worst let down on a promise I've ever seen. It's not all bad, but not all good either. 10/10? No. GOTY? Hell no. Especially given all the A++ titles that came out in 2007.
