  1. Tetris DX, Elite, Jet Set Willy & Contra all gave me hours of fun I could probably name 100 more old skool games that I love, but I won't!
  2. I say good luck to them. Five minutes of being on TV and they both stand to make about £0.5 million from that 5 minutes of fame. Nice I have to say though that I hate ALL throwaway pop music. I have never bought a single like that in my life. I'd much rather have some Jimi Hendrix or some SRV or just any good RAWK!
  3. I have a habit of pressing crtl S every 10 minutes whenever I use my computer for work. I got so anal about it when I lost 3 hours work because I got disconnected from the internet and Windows decided to crash because of it Moral of this story: Always backup & never wear a toaster on your head in the bathtub.
  4. I have heard that 7z does automatically change all your zip/rar etc files to be used with it. It may have also messed around with extensions. That is why I hesitant about installing it. The login AOL crap sounds suspiciously like a virus though. Does your computer ever try to connect to any site or program on it's own?
  5. It's pretty easy mate. Once you have selected your OS, you just press the tab that says floppy and select the disk images for the game on it. You can stick 4 at a time and everytime you need to change disk, just press F12. Be patient though, it runs the same speed as Amiga, so games don't load up instantly like consoles. Beneath a steel sky was running fine though when I tried it with the A1200 OS rom. And if you find any games aren't running as you would like then try these http://ale.emuunlim.com/winuae-help.htm config files. Saves you a lot of time fiddling with options.
  6. Yeah sorry guys, I added some more stuff to explain about the files. I should have added it before. Just make sure you have the latest version of Amiga in a Box, AIAB.exe, the latest version of WinUAE which is 0.8.22R3.
  7. Yeah you can find the full list of games on his webpage Link not Allowed -Diso
  8. There is Super Dodgeball Advance for GBA which I think is based on River City Ransom. Jap rom is 0010 US rom is 0040 You can get them from http://emug.bahtech.com/roms.html
  9. Ok you first of all need Amiga in a Box. This takes all the difficulty out of setting up. http://aiab.emuunlim.com/ Download the AIAB.exe or zip. It is around 4.1Mb Next you need WinUAE. Download the latest verson at the homepage http://www.winuae.net/ Download InstallWinUAE0822R3.exe or the zip archive. Now you need the amiga Bios and a workbench 3.0/3.1 adf disk image. You can get that at http://home.nikocity.de/j_g_s/blackbox/AMIGAWB.HTML NB: you only need the file called workbench v3.x The rest of the adf (disks) aren't necessary. And finally you need the Amiga OS kickstart files which you can get at http://www.emu-nation.de/tools.htm Basically these files relate to what Amiga OS you are operating: KICK13.ROM = Amiga A500 KICK20.ROM = Amiga A500+/A600 KICK30.ROM = Amiga A1200/A4000 KICK31.ROM = CD32 WinUAE will let you choose which one of these you want to use. So if a game isn't working in one, or needs AGA (ie A1200) then you can just switch them with the click of a button. Next follow this installation guide http://aiab.emuunlim.com/installing/index.html Hopefully after all this you should be up and running I had to find the "illegal" files but I didn't have to write a guide to use WinUAE (complicated stuff ). Woohoo.
  10. If you like MGS2 and it's realism then you should really play Splinter Cell for the Xbox. I got it today and it is amazing stuff. The graphics are the best I have seen and finally show what the Xbox is capable of which the PS2 could only dream of. There are PC, PS2 and GC versions coming early next year too I heard.
  11. More new sites for fellow GBA gamers. Link not Allowed -Diso
  12. I'm going to try and write a guide to getting Amiga emulators to work on Windows XP. I will do it when I have a little more time. Anyway for now you could try getting the PC version of Beneath a Steel Sky to work (get it here)
  13. Emulation will never die. In 10 years time people will be searching for Xbox Gamecube and PS2 games and looking for ISOs for PS4, Nintendo Spankbox and the Microsoft Uberconsole 2010Xtreme l33t machine (or whatever thier real names are ) They may take our lives, but they will never take our EMULATION!!!!!!!
  14. Oh yeah I know Creature Isle isn't any big improvement. I am talking about Black & white 2, the full sequel. Now each and every single villager will have the same amount of AI as your creature. So effectively you can control everything in the game. I always thought I would make a good(or bad ) god.
  15. I occasionally have an anger problem. In the past I have punched holes in doors, walls, and smashed inanimate objects. I am not so bad now because life is good. I think it is just one of those phases you go through as a teenager. Games help me get rid of anger anyway. Nothing beats driving over someones head in GTA3 when you are feeling mad
  16. You could try BT directory enquiries. http://www.bt.com/directory-enquiries/dq_home.jsp As long as his telephone number isn't ex-directory you should be able to see if he lives at the same address on there. Or you could try the Royal Mail http://www.royalmail.com I think they should have postcode and address finders. I hope that helps mate
  17. I have both those games. I thought Blade runner was a great game. Plays just like being in the movie. DUngeon Keeper 2 is also a really excellent game. Black & White you either love or hate, but if you buy it make sure you get the patch. It fixes a lot of stupid bugs. Black & White 2 is out soon and it looks amazing. Huge battles with your creature leading thousands os soldiers and stuff. Nice
  18. This sounds like the best solution to me
  19. I may be your savior emsley http://www.playserver3.com/play247.asp? is just simply the best if you live in Europe. Free delivery to the whole of Europe plus most games are at least 15%-50% cheaper than most other places. http://www.happyhunter.com/ is great for DVDs http://www.reserve.co.uk/ has some good deals. I just ordered RE for gamecube there for £25 http://www.chipsworld.co.uk/ are cheap for games too. I have got a lot of PC and DC games from them on the cheap. http://www.gameplay.com/ occasionally has some great offers for all formats. http://www.simplygames.com/lores.index.asp has good prices and also some DC stock left. w00t. It also has a new Xbox deal. Xbox + 4 games (Jet Set Radio, Halo, Splinter Cell & Sega GT 2002) for £199. Nice
  20. I think the Metal Gear Solid games are great while they last but incredibly short. I also think Splinter Cell could be the one to blow MGS out of the water. My favourite Stealth type game of all time has to be Deus Ex. In my opinion it is the best FPS ever on any system. I can't get enough of it. Deus Ex 2 is going to take over my life! Anyway, MGS games are good because of all the little details but a lot of people just play through the game in a couple of hours and miss them. I like little details, they make the game feel more involving, more realistic (although realism isn't always good. It can be boring too). I will probably get Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance for my Xbox and I will definately get Metal Gear for my GBA.
  21. Ah well. It was just a thought. Back to the drawing board
  22. Use http://www.whatismyip.com/ to find out what your IP address is. Being that you are on dialup like me, you have a dynamic IP which means it changes everytime you get on the pr0nnet.
  23. Actually, the older the DOS game, the better it runs in XP. Newer DOS games don't have a chance eg Command & Conquer, Tie Fighter, The Secret of Monkey Island, System Shock, Ultima VII, Doom, Elite:Final Frontier, Warcraft 2 etc Other stuff can run when you tweak the settings (eg Sam & Max works when you play it without sound). I just think it is a pain in the ass having to change screen resolutions, use slow down utils, change config.nt (config.sys, my old friend hehe) files etc just to make some of these classics run. I want an emulator to make it all quick and easy for me Oh well, maybe it's only me who wants to play these games again
  24. I've just been trying it and stuff like Gameboy, Spectrum, atari 800, C64 worked fine. Some other stuff like Snes wasn't so good but I guess it is a hugely ambitious emulator and some things are bound to be crappy. I guess it is better to have 100 different perfect emulators than one emulator that emulates 100 things OK.... It is regularly updated though, so I am going to keep my eye on it.
