when was the last format 3 years ago?

damn, store what you need on some disx and

format the crap out of all those crapwere's

after that u need some kinda protection:

first u need a firewall!!! it's what generally keeps most

not-so-complex crap outta your system!!!

recommandations: murphy shield, black ice or zone alarm

In case yer wandering I use zone alarm and so far the comps doin' great!!

antiviruses!!! the progs that find,identify,delete viruses(harmfull programs than can come with an email attachment

a bogus install request or p2p downloads)

recommandations: norton av, bitdefender, rav, and if u got zone alarm security suite u also get an antivirus with it;

spyware/malware hunters: the progs that find,identify,delete

spyware/malware which are progs than generally wanna acces

the internet "behind your back" and send info about your pc

or do some other crap I'm not familiar with"

recommandations: spy sweeper and ad-aware (use both that's what I do)

internet browsers are those programs that... YOU HAVE TO BE flockING KIDDING ME...

recomandatios: STAY THE flock AWAY FROM IE AS IN INTERNET EXPLORER, IT'S THE VERY BEST WAY TO GET YOUR

PC INFECTED WITH LOADS OF CRAP; use Mozzila Firefox or Opera and nothing else!! If u have a slow connection you should use Opera it's faster; both are equaly safe, block popups and bogus program install requests and have downlaod managers...

peer to peer software are... MY FREAKIN' FINGER HURTS, YOU FIGURE IT OUT...

recs.: Bit Torrent, DC++ and KaZaa Lite

RULE nr.1: now, since configuration is the mother of protection, u must configure every single option in them u deem will make your PC safer!!!

RULE nr.2: update regurarly, every day if u can, so that u will be up-to-date with new bad programs and their signatures/symptomes;

RULE nr.3: Don't press yes everytime you see a window popup outta nowhere...

RULE nr.4: Don't visit www.download.com

RULE nr.5: Format every six months

RULE nr.6:GET TO WORK U HAVE ALOT TO DO!!!

that's all, enjoy

Your rules 4 and 5 are absolutely absurd.

Indeed they are. I format only when absolutely necessary. Also, when you go to Download.com read about the program you are about to download, most freeware programs come with a crap load of spyware.

There can be a problem with some programs activating the internet behind your back - namely, internet explorer or windows media player can both be used to install spyware and malware undetected unless you have the security settings set high enough in ie.

Never happened to me. Although I don't download a lot of stuff from Download.com in the first place.

well I don't exactly format every six months but I do format at least once every year...

If you're formatting at all for no apparent reason, then there is something seriously wrong with your security/maintainence policy.
