Wizard Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 (edited) Over here they show off 2 new test models, both of them are pretty close to final. We all know you need to buy a new Mulititap for those 4 player games, but now, what if your upgrading from your (Assuming dead) PS2 to a PSTwo? Not only that, your controllers still work, but these new PSTwo units require a different type of memory card(or once I get the unit, i shall find a way to mod my current memory cards so it can work on the PStwo)! I kid you not. You need to purchuse a new memory card. As the older PS2 cards, DON'T FIT! Theres is also a concern that these new PSTwo memory cards won't be backward compatible. So PS2 owners are royally fscked by Sony. Take alook at the pics in the link. Edited October 5, 2004 by K`dash
Gryph Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 Hmm...that is pretty troubling and stupid on Sony's part.
Daeval Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 New Memory Cards = Not cool. If they were going to screw current memory card owners, they should have just gone full-bore and eliminated the slots altogether, opting for the integrated harddrive (and whatever it would take to emulate that as a giant memory card) instead. They could make their money on a USB adapter for old cards. Wait, that might still be in the plan. :\ That review pointed out another important flaw, which is that the flip-top drive, while not inherently annoying, pretty much eliminates half the advantage of such a tiny device. What's the point of making it 2.8cm thick when you still need a good 5 or 6 inches of clearance to swap a game?
Agozer Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 I've got three starting words: What the flock? New memory cards? Somebody better create an adapter of sorts.
Prican25 Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 i doubt they would do that especially if the current controllers fit as the memory card is suppose to fit along with them.
Madi Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 hmm i dont like that , i have a old ps one and i hate buying mem cards
Shibathedog Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 hmm, this thing is turning out to be very strange, maybe replacing my PS2 and then getting a mod for my old one isnt such a good idea...
Mag Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 Well I just cancelled my reservation since I read this, and I port the reservation money toward GTA: SA
Madi Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 im still getting one since i never owned a ps2 , or i might wait lol
Mag Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 Well you will be missing out FFXI if you do, and besides..the thing suppose to run the best performance on its verticle side
Ghosty Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 (edited) Meh, I Wouldn't Mind, The Only Console I Have Is A Nes, So When Will It Be In America And How Much? EDIT: Wow 8.6 Volts Edited October 5, 2004 by 666Ghost
Wizard Posted October 6, 2004 Author Posted October 6, 2004 In my honest opinon, saving 1 or 2 millimeters as Sony's way of screwing the PS2 owns who plan to get this. They look pretty much alike, but those 1-2 millimeters is pretty stupid since the orignal PS2 controllers still fit. another pic
Prican25 Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 (edited) i thought i'd bring the rumor to a close to tell you that old memory cards do fit in the new ps2 so theres no need to worry execpt that i'm still wondering which games supposely don't work on the new ps2 (other then the hdd one) Edited October 21, 2004 by Prican25
Daeval Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 That's important news. Where did it come from, out of curiosity?
Agozer Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 Thank you Prican for getting rid of that nasty rumor. Now I can finally get a PSTwo, since my PS2 has seen better days.
