Ok, I manage to get my hand on a copy of SF3:3rd Strike for PS2.

Verdict:

It is an exact copy from the Dreamcast Version. I can't find anything extra.

You can choose the music as Arrange or Classic. I forget whether DC has this feature. In the graphic dept, I think the DC look much better than the PS2, much

smoother. But the loading time for PS2 version is very short.

I just had a go just now, and I must say the control is quite ok. But find yourself a joystick controller. Using PS2 controller is going to kill your fingers. But you can set to use the analog.

So, if I have the DC version, I will stick to it. But since I dun have, the PS2 version is just nice for me :P So go get it if you dun have the DC version.

Ah yes. I ordered the Limited Edition package and it hasn't arrived yet. But most changes in the game are in-game tweaks.

They fixed certain bugs, especially Yun's bugs where you can combo his Diving Kick move. They added the soundtrack choices, which is not in the Dreamcast version. They removed the INPUT LAG, which was in the dreamcast version. There should be a change list up in a few days on Gamefaqs.

Has anyone thought about getting the special SF PS2 controller? I saw on the back of my Game Informer mag the other day.

I want one, but unfortunately, I'm saving that money for Doom 3.

can u elaborate on the soundtrack option? does that mean we can use classic sf2 stuff or jus other options.

and yeah those controllers look pretty spiffy...i wouldnt mind gettin one. actually, i want one, it resembles the saturn controller which in my book is the best way to play street fighter or any other capcom fighters....excluding arcade sticks of course....

In the original arcade version of 3s (Third Strike) it had original music. When it was ported to the Dreamcast, Capcom decided to remix those tracks for the console release.

Yep, i think that's the one, goose

The main, REAL, difference between the two would be the INPUT lag. It's completely removed in the PS2 version and it's there in the DC. I'll put some judgement on this game my self once my copy arrives.

ok theres actually 2 other things you forgot to mention:

1. theres an option to use the analog stick if you perfer to use that

2. the ps2 version has a filter option that smooths out the gfx (turn it off and it looks just like dc's version)

i loaded both dc's and ps2's and both using s-video connections and started a training session in both: off bat i can see the filter option in ps2's works wonders to smooth out the pixeled look that dc's has. other then that it looks to be a match between the 2. also ps2's controls did respond better then dc's so thats a good thing :flame:

so overall: i perfer ps2 version but if you already got sf3 for dc, i suggest you wait for sf aniversary dvd as that seems more worth it

btw, there seems to be a korean version of sf aniversary dvd (the one with sf3 like usa is getting) released and i played it and can say that its great and has english and japanese text options (tho for hyper sf2 the characters names will still be in japan's way even in english) EG: M.Bison = Balrog, Vega = M.Bison, Vega = Balrog

just to note: the anime movie that was in the japanese sf aniversary isn't included
