BobRedthorp Posted April 15, 2004 Posted April 15, 2004 I got my hands on a Mega CD, you know the CD-ROM add-on for the megadrive/genisis. I got it with a megadrive already attatched but I don't know how to use the CD-ROM, do I need a Cart to tell it to run the CD Game, anyone got one and can help?
Agozer Posted April 15, 2004 Posted April 15, 2004 Really, have you tried putting a CD in and turning the power on?
BobRedthorp Posted April 15, 2004 Author Posted April 15, 2004 Well, yeah, that about all I can really do to try it, I dunno, it plays carts but just don't know what else to do??
random guy Posted April 15, 2004 Posted April 15, 2004 (edited) Are you using burned cds? I may be talking out of my arse here, but I assume that the MegaCD needs some kind of modding to be able to play backup/import CDs (I only say this because every other CD console system (except the dreamcast, from what I've heard) needs some kind of modification to play backup/import CDs) Edited April 15, 2004 by random guy
BobRedthorp Posted April 15, 2004 Author Posted April 15, 2004 No, theyre all originals, I just don't get it
random guy Posted April 15, 2004 Posted April 15, 2004 No, theyre all originals, I just don't get it hmmm....I'm sorry to say this, but maybe you got ripped off and the mega CD part of the system doesn't work My condolences.
DanManXZ Posted April 15, 2004 Posted April 15, 2004 No, theyre all originals, I just don't get it hmmm....I'm sorry to say this, but maybe you got ripped off and the mega CD part of the system doesn't work My condolences. maybe the cd reader is dirty. Try cleaning the lens. then see if it can plays games. If thaty doesnt work bust inside the system and check if there is any faulty wiring/connections. Well this dosent work I fresh outta ideas
James Posted April 15, 2004 Posted April 15, 2004 hhmm being an old system you will be lucky the laser is still working.anyway it wont hurt cleaning the the lens and see what happens no cart is needed just make sure the cd unit is connected properly.
jbenner Posted April 15, 2004 Posted April 15, 2004 btw, SegaCD doesn't need to be modded to play CD-R games. And there are plenty of SegaCD ISO sites on the net.
BobRedthorp Posted April 16, 2004 Author Posted April 16, 2004 it may just be fecked, I dont't care I got it for nothing anyway, at least the Mega drive still works, but now I've got 12 of the damn things lol
Agozer Posted April 17, 2004 Posted April 17, 2004 The mega cd is garbage Hardly. Lunar games and the Shining Force games are one of the best RPGs ever.
StriderSkorpion Posted April 17, 2004 Posted April 17, 2004 (edited) Don't forget Snatcher. Besides, Cypher, you're the one who wants a "power ranger rom." Didn't even specify what system. Nevermind about the avatar, must've been the proxy I was using. Edited April 18, 2004 by StriderSkorpion

StriderSkorpion Posted April 19, 2004 Posted April 19, 2004 (edited) Yeah it's from Samurai Shodown. When I use Proximitron, though, it blocks the image and I get a Fortune City image instead. I can't believe he thinks the Sega/Mega CD is crap, but wants a Power Ranger rom. Edited April 19, 2004 by StriderSkorpion
