StriderSkorpion Posted April 5, 2004 Posted April 5, 2004 Upgrade man. NeoRageX is old news and should be dead (the developers dropped it after all). It's not a bad emulator, it's just that Kawaks and Nebula are a lot better.
James Posted April 6, 2004 Posted April 6, 2004 anyone got this working on NeoRAGEx ??? yes its working on NRX

StriderSkorpion Posted April 6, 2004 Posted April 6, 2004 You just have to compile your own versions of MAME and FBA. If you follow the tutorial (for MAME, at least) and follow the instructions posted for the driver, you can compile it easily. For the dat, just copy the main text and paste it into notepad and save the file as a dat file. If you're editting the asr.dat, just put a line of % at the bottom and then paste the text below that and save.

StriderSkorpion Posted April 6, 2004 Posted April 6, 2004 Wasn't it you who mentioned these new NeoRageX hacks are like adding biomechanical parts to a dead/dying body?
Agozer Posted April 6, 2004 Posted April 6, 2004 (edited) Wasn't it you who mentioned these new NeoRageX hacks are like adding biomechanical parts to a dead/dying body?Yes, but I still don't think NRX is dead... rather reanimated. If an emulator is still good at emulating certain things (albeith being old and such), why should it be forgotten and buried? Let's not forget that NeoRAGE was the first Neo-Geo emulator and it's still a viable option for those who have older computers and do not want to mess with DATs and whatnot. NeoRAGERx Posted April 6, 2004 Posted April 6, 2004 btw Kawaks is nice too but Nebula hehe is plain EViL
StriderSkorpion Posted April 6, 2004 Posted April 6, 2004 I prefer Kawaks, but Nebula is easier to mess around with since it uses dats. The Kawaks loader is the only way to change or add to the sets Kawaks recognizes, but there isn't a loader for 1.49 (AFAIK) or 1.48b/dev. I wouldn't bury NeoRageX yet, but wish the source would be released. The hacks are nice and all, but they really can't add some of the features Nebula and Kawaks have.
Agozer Posted April 6, 2004 Posted April 6, 2004 The sad thing is, NeoRAGEx's source code has never been released and probably never will and it's almnost purely coded in Assembly. The EGCG Team are just reverse-engineering the code to put in the various tweaks they've done so far.
James Posted April 7, 2004 Posted April 7, 2004 i use NRX but i wont limit myself to that emulator I use Mame and FBA mostly FBA is another good emulator for the older PC
Weirdy Posted April 7, 2004 Posted April 7, 2004 I use MAME just for regular arcade emulation, and I use FBA for online play
