saiyanfire Posted April 2, 2004 Posted April 2, 2004 is there anyway to force delete files from yur computer. i have a half finished naruto episode and it wont delete. i tried to delete the file and it said it was bein used by another process, but i ended all the processes but explorer. arrrgghh can sum 1 tell me how to fix it?
Agozer Posted April 2, 2004 Posted April 2, 2004 Weird. If explorer is the only thing running, there should be any other applications that might hog it. What OS are you using?
Gryph Posted April 2, 2004 Posted April 2, 2004 I get that sometimes when I try to delete videos. First, restart your computer and try to delete. If that doesn't work, cut and then paste the file into the recycle bin. If that doesn't work...then I don't know what to do.
saiyanfire Posted April 2, 2004 Author Posted April 2, 2004 (edited) oh yeah im on windows xpthx fer the help klaw but it didnt work Edited April 2, 2004 by saiyanfire
Agozer Posted April 2, 2004 Posted April 2, 2004 oh yeah im on windows xpthx fer the help klaw but it didnt workThen I'm stumped, because every time I faced a problem like this, I would just boot my Win98 into DOS and remove the file(s) from there.
saiyanfire Posted April 2, 2004 Author Posted April 2, 2004 im stumped... maybe ill figure it out over the weekend
Agozer Posted April 2, 2004 Posted April 2, 2004 Just checking...Is the file or the directory that the file is in, read-only?
saiyanfire Posted April 2, 2004 Author Posted April 2, 2004 dumbphuck= me how did i not realize that....srry for wastin yur time
Agozer Posted April 2, 2004 Posted April 2, 2004 (edited) dumbphuck= me how did i not realize that....srry for wastin yur timeThe most simple question usually solves the most difficult of problems. It's ok saiyanfire, at least it's solved now. Edited April 2, 2004 by Agozer
Alpha Posted April 2, 2004 Posted April 2, 2004 (edited) When you mean force delete.. do you mean to just delete the file without going to the recycle bin? If so... Just highlight the file and hold SHIFT, then press DELETE. There..file deleted completely. EDIT... nvmd.. my eyes are getting lazy... If that's the case then press CTRL+ALT+DELETE.. END TASK: EXPLORER. Then click in Windows Task Manager, Click File, and type "explorer" again. It will then load your desktop back and then try deleting the file. It should now delete. Wizard Posted April 3, 2004 Posted April 3, 2004 I'm currently having the same problem GHA Some stupid file doesnt want to delete. I've tried what you guys mentions. NONE OF THEM WORK!. I am teh angry!
Agozer Posted April 3, 2004 Posted April 3, 2004 K`dash, are you absolutely sure that your file/directory isn't read-only? If you are, then disregard this post.
ken_cinder Posted April 3, 2004 Posted April 3, 2004 Killz0r EXPLORER (ctrl+alt+del and do it), then DO NOT start it again..........instead, do NEW TASK > CMD, drag your ass to the location of the file and delete it in DOS BEFORE starting Explorer up again. If that doesn't work, you broke something and you broke it good
Wizard Posted April 3, 2004 Posted April 3, 2004 I broke it good. Because the file WAS read only, and every time I uncheck that, it still doesnt delete (I do click APPLY then OK, Try to delete, NOTHING HAPPENS!). I've gone thru the process several times, AND NOTHING WORKS.
