I already smelled epic phailure the first time I heard there won't be fatalities in MKvDC, hell with fatalities at least it's worth a try but then again, Armgeddon marked a new level of failure with it's stupid "Kreate-a-Fatality" *sigh*. The first time I saw gameplay footage is the minute I already knew this going to turn out to be another Deadly Alliance cross over and not to mention a bad cross over.

The only way to save this disaster from coming out is drop this whole 3D project and go back to old school. Yes, it's still not to late to reuse the digitalized pre-rendered 3D engine to make DC character sprites then up the ante on the graphic department by cleaning the UMK3 character sprites then add in new fatalities then there you go, a game that worth a shot, could be a classic for all we know.

but no... we're getting another Deadly alliance, Deception or Armageddon clone excuse of an engine with some crossover characters. BOOOOO

The game DOES have fatalities.

http://kotaku.com/381302/mk-v-dc-has-littl...d-no-fatalities the last I read about MKvDC

Guess they changed their mind then, well I still think it's going to be as worst or even worser than the fatalities on MKDA-MKA since they wanted to have less blood and wanted to achieve a T-rated game; 13 and up (seriously?).

Contrary to the initial announcement, Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe will have (some) Fatalities; though less blood and a Teen rating remain

I'm forced to echo Mago's opinion really.

Personally I think Midway should reboot the series lore-wise, fire that idiot in charge of lore and go back to old school 2D in HD. Change the system to something like Ninja Master's (unarmed or armed combat whenever you feel like it with little difference on the balance but slightly different combos) and fill it with special moves. Go for M rating and have shitloads of blood and gore and sprites that have visible damage marks on them and there ya go. Also enough of the console-only bullshit, bring it back to PC and give it online play and leaderboards and we're set.

Funny story; that wanker Ed Boon promised exactly that when Armageddon was announced- it was the last gen dream match before the wiped the slate clean with a new storyline, new engine and everything.

Instead he pulls another Sub-Zero / Scorpion game with the exact same technology as before. But with new licenses!

flock Ed Boon. I hate that man.

Boon scrapped the Gears of War-esque MK8 to focus on MKvDC. I stole this story because of the rather apt picture provided.

At last year's Midway Gamers Day, Mortal Kombat co-creator and series overlord Ed Boon talked up the then-unnamed eighth entry in the franchise. Boon described Mortal Kombat 8 at the time as "very dark, serious" and "gritty" take on the series, a back to basics reboot that was free of "vibrant, saturated colors." It was said to be heavily inspired by the look of Gears of War.

Obviously, that didn't quite happen; Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe did. Boon said that the down and dirty MK8 was scrapped when the DC Comics deal solidified.

The way he talks about a visual style really shows Boon doesn't know what the hell he's talking about. To reiterate my last post, flock Ed Boon.

After watching some of the E3 highlights on G4TV, I noticed that the gameplay becomes repetitive. The fighting system reminds me of the one from Armageddon where the air combat looked stupid. They have this, along with pointless and gameplay disturbing sequences that take the joy out of a regular fight. I think that the stage destruction has been taken a bit too far, it seems that you can knock a person down a cliff or to another area more than 5 times in one single fight, and the mid air combat seems dull and uninspired. The combos look more awkward than fluid, and they aren't anything like the combo system we had in MK 3 persay. This game will most likely suck, along with the previous installments. What they should have done, was make some sort of a sequel to Shaolin Monks, which actually was a worthy installment into the MK series, and make the storyline focus on the MK 3 video game. They could had also made an entire new upgrade to MK Trilogy, add more of the characters from MK II and 1, upgrade the graphics to look even better than the Arcade port of UMK3, add a nice leader and score board, and put it on XBLA, and PSN. That would be nicer than this game, I couldn't imagine paying $10 for this game, let alone $60.

QFT. I'd definitely love a new 2D dream match. Personally I'd also include all the characters up till Armageddon in 2D glory.

Hmm, look like Armageddon but more polish graphics and same gameplay. Still, I do not like Mortal Kombat that much but I am in need of a fighting game to play so, i might get this just for the sake :thumbsup1:

Just get SC4 next week and we should be good :thumbsup1:. I find MK Armageddon actually unpleasant to play, which is something I can't say about many fighting games.

SC4 will be far and away better than this ugly pile.

I definitely agreed. And I will get SC4 first thing when it came out (the pirated version though) :thumbsup1: If I managed to find a copy of GOW also, life should be good :D
