FF VII was the best after that is bites.

Posted

I've played 7-10 all the way through, and then got all the secret crap, even maxed out my character's stats in some of them, and I can honestly say that they're all pretty much crap. A huge majority of the game content is difficult only in the aspect of level. Sometimes not even then. This is especially true of FF9, where the whole game can be played with your characters at level 1, and if you do decide that running from every battle isn't your cup of tea, they'll all be hitting the damage cap as easily as they breathe.

That's not even the worst part. The worst part is reaching the end of the game only to realize that you can't get some fancy weapon or spell because to get it requires some cockheaded scheme of running around the correct pixel in the middle of a desert seven times clockwise and three times counter or some bullshit that makes no sense that you would never do if there wasn't a guide telling you to. The best example of this is FFXII, where there are four chests that are completely identical to every other chest in the game, except for the fact that opening them screws you out of the most powerful weapon later.

I'd go on, but I've already done this a few times on this forum alone. I think I've said enough to make my point.

Thats quite a statement, never heard anyone say that four different FF games are all crap at one time. I'm sure these people would like to disagree with you though. I don't really like 9 or 10 but I wouldn't call them crap. Those little schemes imo are kinda fun because if it was too easy to get a super powerful end-of-the-game weapon then it would be pointless. Plus, it reminds me of older games where if you do one thing wrong, you are screwed no matter what (like you can't beat the game) and no one even tells you :naughty:

Hmmm.

1 Saved Square

7 Saved Square

13 will save Square?

After all the retcons they did with 7, I hope they never, ever, remake it. Plain and simple.

7 remake will never come out unless they say so. That ending in CC? That bullshit is nothing. So until they say otherwise, 7 remake is tech demo only showing off decent graphics on a system that can do better.

Square today is full of crap. I hope this overvaunted FFXIII flops hard, and that egomaniacal company goes bust again. Only this time, I hope they stay dead.

Final Fantasy XIIi is still awesome as balls, but I have the same sentiments as Mondo; the requirements for having even a slightest chance in hell in getting the Zodiac Speak are downright sadistic.

The fact that you need a guide just to just to get a very well hidden powerful item in the game just baffles me. I mean, sure, it's powerful and all that, but at least they should give you in-game hints on how to obtain it.

Four identical chests is nothing. Having a group of 12-16 identical chests that have the "booby-trapped" chest among them randomized every time is just wrong.

I could do with some more Dragon Quest. Sure it's a go kill foozle plot every time, but it's always so well executed.

Chrono Break got cancelled because there hadn't been enough interest in Cross. The team kept putting Break off and eventually it got swept under the rug. I do wish they'd at least tell us what the plot was going to be. It'd help out the Temporal Flux team out with their Break project.

As for FF12 and the Zodiac Spear, you can actually get it as a rare (super rare, really) drop from one of the monsters late in the game, enabling you to deck everyone out with it.

Reminds me of a D&D session. Good times there. I did like FF12 soley because of the world's lore. Ivalice is by far one of my favorite settings.

They were doing fine with Chrono series.

Chrono Trigger = Great

Chrono Cross = Great

Chrono Break = Canceled (Why?)

CC sucked bad, but did like some of the story. I also liked Kid. Would of been nice to CB though. There's also hope they'll remake CT on DS in 3D since 3, 4 and 5 are in 3D.

I do remember that with their SE's franchises, they are still seperate enities which is why some former Enix games are still good. I loved DQ8, and going to love the DQ9.

I also got all the phat lewt items in FF12 on my 2nd run through with the international edition. Pretty good shiet.

Yes I know. It's just that I've never been very fond of items labeled "super rare" and or "1% chance of getting" in JRPGs.

As for Ivalice, it's captivating in my opinion, if you can call it that.

So we are in agreement. Ivalice = UFCK WIN Final Fantasy setting.

Final Fantasy VII was great to people who had never played an RPG, it made people realize that RPGs were actually worth playing. But to RPG fans it was good but not the best. Final Fantasy VI was probably better in depth. Things I didn't like about VII was that you could make any character anything there was no class specs it depended too much on materia. The graphics of the chars was also bad. If Final Fantasy VIII would not have made the summons so terribly long and complicated it would have been my fovorite. I do not think VII should be remade, they should just get working on XIII.

If they ever do a remake it better have every other material from the FF7 world canon and non-canon incorporated into it, including Advent Children, that OVA, the books, and the mobile games. That should make it uber and definitive.

Advent Children, Crisis Core, Before Crisis, the books (Case of Tifa/Denzel/barret's kid) and the OVA are all canon to FF7. Even Derge.
