Wizard Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 Gamespot news post. Kutaragi said it would be expensive... and laughed.I'm aware that with all these technologies, the PS3 can't be offered at a price that's targeted towards households. [...] I'm not going to reveal its price today. I'm going to only say that it'll be expensive," This is better compared to what Nintendo did with their broadband adapter. They threw it in the crowd and ran.
Madi Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 Wow he actually admitted it? Its gonna take some serious fanbois to buy this one Xbox 360 vs Revoultion anybody? Not thats i wouldnt mind playing killzone 2
Lucandrake Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 (edited) 360's rumored to be starting at $300. I would definitely buy a 360 thats cheaper then ps2's starting price. So lets see, 360's got the price, the games that I want, and can be connected to my pc and psp. Compare that to the ps3 , which costs almost more then my pc, (if rumors are true) and only has a few games that are playable by my standards. I am so getting a 360 this november. Gryph Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 Heh, I remember this Kutaragi gem: "for consumers to think to themselves 'I will work more hours to buy one'. We want people to feel that they want it, irrespective of anything else." Yes, I want to work more hours to buy a game console.
Weirdy Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 that guy is on crack, I'd rather buy a new cpu and motherboard to start building a pc rather than a ps3
suvo Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 i want a ps3 , too bad the good games come later...... but 360 is meant* to be cheaper if so i would start off by buying that , and if its aimed at people with money and isn't meant to be a common household thing well thats a good sign to get one
suvo Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 agozer , im hoping thats the price anymore then 500 im not gonna buy
BlackKnight Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 This doesn't sound good for me. Means a PS3 won't be in my hands for ages...
Gryph Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 I remember reading that the PS3 would debut for around $400-450 and they'll be taking around a $75-100 hit on each system. But I'm afraid that number is just a low estimate.

ken_cinder Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 If it's more than $150 the price of an Xbox 360, I'd be willing to lay bets that Sony gets stomped this time around.Alot of gamers out there tend to #1 Go for what comes out first #2 Go for what is relatively cheaper if 2 systems come out near eachother #3 Gag at systems that cost more than $400.......I know I do
Gryph Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 I think Sony is relying too much on the Sony fanboys which I think is a bad idea. Unless the PS3 offers a lot more than the XBOX 360 then people will not want to pay. However, if you do think of it the PS3 is a BlueRay player which would cost a good $200-$300 at launch by itself.
ken_cinder Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 Yeah, the only problem with that is nobody friggin cares. It's not like Blu-ray is going to take over the DVD standard, Sony may think so but it ain't gonna happen.Your avg consumer doesn't care, and your avg consumer that will buy a video game console isn't on the "up and up" when it comes to technology, they just want to play the pretty looking new games. It's us here........and other places, that have more insight into these things. 70% of people buying these systems aren't interested in the technical side, and 50% of that 70% I bet don't own a PC or at the very least, don't make a habit of being on it long enough to come places like here or other gaming sites.
