Gryph Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 http://money.cnn.com/2005/02/28/commentary...aming/index.htm Here are some select quotes from the article:"We believe it is likely that the next version of the Game Boy Advance SP will ship as early as this holiday, ahead of most expectations of calendar year 2006," wrote P.J. McNealy of American Technology Research. Official confirmation of the new Game Boy could come as early as March 10, when Nintendo president Satoru Iwata is scheduled to give a keynote speech entitled "The Heart of a Gamer" at the upcoming Game Developer's Conference in San Francisco. To those that think GBA is obsolete:"The Nintendo DS has, by and large, been additive to Nintendo software revenue and units sales and not cannibalistic," he wrote. "Even with the DS launch in November, GBA software revenue and unit sales were up double-digits in December and January." I found this to be funny:The Game Boy has traditionally been aimed at children, while Nintendo hopes to reach an older audience with the DS.What 'older audience' games have been released so far?
Z-Neo Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 Long live GBA!!!!! I don't understand the reasoning behind another iteration of the GBA, though. Maybe a few more improvements inside and out? I kinda wish they would combine the shape of the original GBA with the flip open screen.
L.S.D Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 The older game might be SUper Mario DS.It is banking on the heart and memories of those live in the past years, perhaps?
Bluestinger X Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 Feel The Magic XX/YY... you can touch her boobs and she yells at you but she gets more pissed off if u touch her hair. Anyways i think im gona wait out and see what nintendo is up to.. this makes me have second thoughts on the psp.. Nintendo has always had a hold on the handheld market and im sure they got something up there sleeves to battle sony.
Ryuken Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 long live gameboy!!!! i knew the ds just can't do it cuz it's crap !!!
NeoMaster Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 Remake of GBA? Or like GBA 2 or something that can compare in technology to psp?
Bluestinger X Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 Nah im sure it will be as strong as the psp or maybe stronger. They arent gona lose the handheld gaming world without a fight.
Gryph Posted March 1, 2005 Author Posted March 1, 2005 Well whatever it's going to be it's most probably going to be more powerful than the PSP.
L.S.D Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 Well whatever it's going to be it's most probably going to be more powerful than the PSP.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>And more expensive
Gryph Posted March 1, 2005 Author Posted March 1, 2005 Well whatever it's going to be it's most probably going to be more powerful than the PSP.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>And more expensive <{POST_SNAPBACK}>The article says it's probably going to cost around $99. I think it's a lie.
Bluestinger X Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 yeah i doubt that... 99 is way to cheap. Im sure maybe we will get it for less then $250 though.
Thraxen Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 No, it won't be anything like the PSP. It will be $99 just like the article says. The DS is meant to compete with the PSP. This new GB, which is a mistake IMO, is meant to be a cheaper handheld for a different audience.

This new GB, which is a mistake IMO, is meant to be a cheaper handheld for a different audience.<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nintendo has clearly said over and over again the DS is not even considered a handheld to them. They dont even believe the DS is in the same market as the PSP. To them the gba is still contending the PSP as they are waiting for the next GB... whats so confusing about that? its been said over and over. Think of the ds as u did the virtual boy.. its a inovative system that really isnt ment to take over for the GB... its like they are testing the market. Did VB last no? cause it sucked. The DS is another offbranch as well but isnt as bad.
LoRd_SnOw Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 (edited) Well i sorta knew that nintendo would release an upgraded version of GB. but still i find it hard to beleive that... 1. it can have a higher quality amount of graphics then the psp. 2. i think that nintendo made another sloppy move by releasing the DS without informing the public that a new GBA would be released somtime soon. becouse honestly most people aren't made out of monopoly money especially since the next gameboy will actually be more powerful then the ds and also cost cheaper then the DS it self. while here in N.Y the DS was $250 for the hardware it self other retailers include a game though. i don't know this is my opinion since im a vistim of buying the DS. i hope nintendo doesn't decide to make another flop e.g the DS.
