Consider all the things a human has to endure during a normal lifetime; a few centuries of these would make anyone crazy. On a genetic level, the shortening of telomeres probably has a purpose. If we were to use telomerases as a way of extending life, we should also find a way to prevent mutations of somatic cells, at least for the critical genes. To put it shortly, I'd hate to be immortal. To me it means just living forever, not necessarily meaning u can't die or be hurt. But ya, living forever with genital herpes or something doesn't sound too appealing.
