Wizard Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 (edited) 1.5ghz GeForce 4? Where?! But more importantly, how?<{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'll take pics at my next LAN. My friend $age got his GeForce 4 64mb overclocked to a 1.5 GHz on stock cooling, lasted for about 30 minutes before his computer shut off by it self. Stuff: that thingy that overclocks nVidia cards, Time, a fire extinguisher, cold room. Edited February 14, 2005 by K`dash
Gryph Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 Ahahaha! Ok, so it's not stable. That's what I thought. What's the fastest stable he's gotten and how is performance. Imagine being able to have it run at 1.5 ghz long enough to run a benchmark...
Agozer Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 Ahahaha! Ok, so it's not stable. That's what I thought. What's the fastest stable he's gotten and how is performance. Imagine being able to have it run at 1.5 ghz long enough to run a benchmark...That's insane. I bet someone can eventually make it stable enough to get some benchmarking results. Still, I don't understand why is it so awesome to overclock stuff when you risk the hardware itself... Even if it's just to show-off. Eh, I'm more of a "do it if it benefits you" kind of a person. Then again, I don't use this motto in every situation.
Wizard Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 PC hardware is completely about bragging rights. Like right now. Look folks, I got an AMD 64 3200+ thats overclocked to 2.50 GHz and a ATi Radeon 9800 Pro clocked at 405/371 on stock! I've no idea how high his card can go with being stable, I've only witnessed this event once. And we do plan on doing it again while theres still snow on the ground here.
Gryph Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 That's some decent overclocking on stock. I gave up overclocking a few years back. I don't feel confident enough with my cooling situation to overclock.
solidius23 Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 thats wicked awesome mad props to his acheivment.
LoRd_SnOw Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 (edited) damn hurry up intel come out with those ghz already so we can play pcsx2 like nothing lol j/k seriously though if any one had that machine in these forums someone is gonna have to make a thread for the new dictator. Ghosty Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 HOT DAMN!! Makes Me Want To Overclock My Crappy AMD Duran 1.3GHz TO 10GHz!!!!! Ya, Right. But Thats Some Crazy Sh!tii
montpics Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 This guy has talents. Wow! I wish I could try it.
Gryph Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 This guy has talents. Wow! I wish I could try it.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>It's not so much talent, it's that he has a lot of money and a lot of time. FUGGER is known to be a massive overclocker and he's done stuff like this before.
Wizard Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 General computing skills are requried (as in, know what the hell you are doing). Time, some space, a clear desk, the balls to actually do the OC'in, the cooling, BOY YOU NEED THE COOLING BADLY. It's pretty crazy in the end once you post benches/cpuz screenie of it. One thing you gotta remember though, OC'in practically voids the warrenty. But in the end, everything is worth it if your computer isn't up in smoke.
Gryph Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 But it's nice that hardware manufacturers are designing their stuff to be more overclock friendly. Atleast AMD has been like that for a while. He still hasn't posted pictures of his cooling rig. What's funny is that at 7.2 ghz his motherboard was unable to detect the harddrives so I don't think he could ever get past the BIOS screen. So technically the 7.2 ghz overclock is useless since you can't really do anything with it.
montpics Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 Probably it will smoke anytime soon as we chat.
Wizard Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 Didn't they recommend using pci sata/ide cards? Wonder if those worked insted of the onboard.
OverlordMondo Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 I find such things to be a pretty much useless endeavor. But whatever floats your boat.
